Lely RB Nino Joseph Voted Florida Male Athlete of the Month

Lely High School Football Player Nino Joseph Named ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for October 2024

After a strong month on the gridiron, Lely High School running back Nino Joseph has been voted the ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for October 2024.

Joseph received 63.98% of the possible votes over a list of three additional finalists to receive the honor. Those finalists included Pembroke Pines Charter cross country runner Alejandro De Bastos, Buchholz cross country runner Demetrie Meyers, and Jefferson football player Jack Cunningham.

When looking at Joseph’s on-field play in September, the sophomore certainly made an impact, despite Lely only playing three games during that time.

On Sept. 6, the Lely Trojans traveled to Gulf Coast for their second road game of the season, a game in which Lely fell by a final score of 50-46. This game was likely Joseph’s best performance of the season up to that point. He rushed for 297 yards and five touchdowns on 28 carries and caught three passes for 30 yards.

This showing only marked the start of what became a significant rise for the running back in September, a run that resumed two weeks later after a Lely bye week.

On Sept. 20, Joseph set yet another season-high mark at the time in a 44-28 win against Gulliver Prep, rushing for 307 yards and three touchdowns on 35 attempts. Joseph also had his second receiving touchdown of the year, catching two passes for 56 yards.

Joseph’s third, and final, game of the month was undoubtedly his best, as Lely posted a big offensive performance in a 90-56 win over Barron Collier. In the win, Joseph rushed for a season-high 423 yards and seven touchdowns on 17 attempts, which translated to an average of 24.9 yards per carry, and he made two receptions for 71 yards.

For the month, Joseph had 80 carries for the Lely offense, which the talented running back turned into 1,027 yards rushing, averaging 12.8 yards per carry, and 15 touchdowns. Joseph also had a combined seven receptions for 157 yards and another score in September.

Performances such as this have been a constant throughout Joseph’s season at Lely so far. At the time of writing, the Trojans sit at 3-4 overall and are led by an offense that is averaging 43.1 points per game.

Joseph is likely the most impactful member of that Lely offense. He currently ranks as one of the state’s top rushers across six games. Over that span, Joseph had 155 carries for 1,517 yards rushing and 22 touchdowns. He also hauled in 12 receptions for 211 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

Congratulations once again on a phenomenal month and season to Lely High School football player Nino Joseph, the ITG Next Florida October 2024 Male Athlete of the Month.
