Kentucky Commit Opts Out of Season

Skyy Clark is ranked No. 12 on 247Sports.

The five-star combo guard form Nashville, Tennessee opted out of the remainder of his junior season due to growing concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Ensworth High School junior wasn’t along as his younger brother, ZZ also opted out with him.

I would like to announce that my brother ZZ and I will not be continuing the remainder of this HS basketball season because of growing concerns with the coronavirus pandemic that threatens the world and more specifically, my family,” Clark said via Twitter. “ZZ and I would like to thank the entire coaching staff at Ensworth HS for helping us through these times by providing us a safe outlet to play the sport we both love.”

The brothers will now prepare for possibly participating in spring and summer basketball with hopes that the pandemic have calmed down some.

Skyy committed to Kentucky on October 22 while ZZ is in his freshman year and picking up offers.

The Ensworth Tigers are currently 11-7 on the season.

They are ranked No. 9 in Tennessee and No. 5 in Tennesee Division II-AA according to MaxPreps.

They will have their plates full losing out on two star players at once for the remainder of the season.

Skyy averaged 26.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists throughout in the 11 games he played in the 2021 season.

ZZ averaged 10.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assist in 12 games before the brothers opted to sit out.

Their seven losses through 18 games is one short of last season when they went 22-8 in the 2019-2020 season.

Though the Tigers will have their work cut out from losing two important pieces, their record still may land them in playoff contention in Tennessee Class II-AA.

They are going into the final three regular season games of the season spanning from Feb. 11 to Feb. 18.
