With the FHSAA state semifinals now set, let’s take a look back at some of the 2023 Florida regional final-round top performers.
QB Zachary Katz (True North Classical Academy)
As he did last week after the regional semifinals, Katz leads off our list of regional final-round top performers in the Florida high school playoffs. He completed 21-of-24 passes for 254 yards and 4 touchdowns, while also rushing for 57 yards on 7 attempts, in True North Classical’s 38-35 loss to Archbishop Carroll.
QB Jackson Hughes (Lake Minneola)
Hughes completed 23-of-44 passes for 451 yards with 4 touchdowns in Lake Minneola’s 77-48 loss to Lakeland.
QB Ennio Yapoor (Norland)
Yapoor completed 11-of-18 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown, and he also rushed for 122 yards and a score on 15 carries, in Norland’s 31-28 win over Miami Central.
QB Tramell Jones (Mandarin)
Jones completed 13-of-25 passes for 266 yards and 3 touchdowns in Mandarin’s 28-24 win over Seminole.
QB Jacob Drackett (Calvary Christian)
Drackett completed 21-of-30 passes for 304 yards and 2 TDs, while also rushing for 9 yards and 2 more scores, in Calvary Christian’s 31-27 loss to Berkeley Prep.
RB Dane Thompkins (Lake Minneola)
Thompkins rushed for 161 yards and 3 touchdowns on 22 attempts in Lake Minneola’s 77-48 loss to Lakeland. The junior also caught a pass for 26 yards.
RB Keenon Johnson (Hawthorne)
Johnson rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries, and he added a pass reception for 5 yards, in Hawthorne’s 34-16 win over Williston.
RB DJ Johnson (Riverview Sarasota)
Johnson rushed for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns on 16 attempts in Riverview Sarasota’s 49-23 loss to Venice.
RB Shawn Simeon (Naples)
Simeon carried the ball 26 times for 171 yards in Naples’ 12-10 loss to Dunbar.
RB Elija Mason (Gaither)
Mason rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns on 22 attempts, and he caught 2 passes for 9 yards, in Gaither’s 31-24 win over Jesuit.
WR Braylon Knauth (Lake Minneola)
Knauth had 11 receptions for 183 yards and a touchdown in Lake Minneola’s 77-48 loss to Lakeland.
WR Jayvan Boggs (Cocoa)
Boggs had 9 receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown in Cocoa’s 34-14 win over South Sumter.
WR Jabari Brady (Monarch)
Brady caught 4 passes for 126 yards in Monarch’s 35-13 win over Palm Beach Central.
LB Trevor Oswald (Bozeman)
Oswald was one of the biggest 2023 Florida regional final-round top performers on the defensive side, recording 19 tackles, including a TFL and a sack, plus 1 PD and 1 FR in Bozeman’s 28-14 win Holmes County.
LB Samadrae Hawkins (Cocoa)
Hawkins recorded 15 tackles, including 4 TFL, in Cocoa’s 34-14 win over South Sumter.
