With matchups set for the FHSAA regional finals, let’s take a look back at some of the top performances from the 2023 Florida regional semifinal round last week.
QB Zachary Katz (True North Classical Academy)
Katz completed 17-of-20 passes for 357 yards and 4 touchdowns, while also rushing for 2 yards on 2 attempts, in True North Classical Academy’s 48-16 win over Westminster Christian.
QB Jacob Drackett (Calvary Christian-Clearwater)
Drackett completed 13-of-18 passes for 265 yards and 4 touchdowns, while also rushing for 26 yards on 4 attempts, in the Warriors’ 48-20 win over Clearwater.
QB Will Griffin (Jesuit)
Griffin completed 18-of-22 passes for 297 yards and 4 touchdowns, while also rushing for a yard on 2 attempts, in Jesuit’s 38-7 win over Northeast.
RB Shawn Simeon (Naples)
Simeon turned in one of the state’s top overall performances in the 2023 Florida regional semifinal round, rushing for 387 yards and 7 touchdowns on 30 carries in Naples’ 63-33 win over Port Charlotte.
RB Tiant Wyche (Mandarin)
Wyche rushed for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns on 21 attempts, while also catching 2 passes for 96 yards and another score, in Mandarin’s 36-10 win over Lake Mary.
RB Laython Biddle (Bartram Trail)
Biddle rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown on 23 tries in Bartram Trail’s 28-21 win over Niceville.
WR Jasen Lopez (True North Classical Academy)
Lopez had 7 receptions for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns, and he also returned a kickoff for 22 yards, in True North Classical Academy’s 48-16 win over Westminster Christian.
WR TJ Moore (Tampa Catholic)
Moore had 4 receptions for 160 yards and 3 touchdowns in Tampa Catholic’s 42-28 win over Berkeley Prep.
