ITG-SG Top 5’s of Week 4

Week 4 Top 5s
TOP 5 PLAYERS:
Our ITG Preseason Top 10 Player picks, for the most part, have proven true here on our weekly Top 5’s, but up until now, Chauncey Manac hadn’t made an appearance. That changed this week. Bursting onto the scene of an important and well covered game, Manac made 14 tackles in Clinch’s 3rd win of the year. As if that wasn’t enough, he also scooped up a fumble and took it 33 yards for a touchdown. This performance from the UGA commit lands him at the top of our list for this week.

Not far behind him, however, is Bainbridge QB Brett McLaughlin.  After specializing in throwing to WR Tyler Story last week on his way to a school record in receptions, McLaughlin set a school record of his own with 22 completions. Racking up 244 yards and 3 TDs this week against Monroe, McLaughlin will enter next week’s matchup with TCC with well-deserved confidence.

While Clinch’s defense creating turnovers was the decisive factor in their blowout of Berrien, their offense made sure to capitalize on every mistake. Leading that effort was RB Shannon Young, who took 14 carries for 211 yards and 4 TDs.

Kiel Pollard, another athlete that graced our Preseason Top 10, scored 4 TDs on only 4 catches and 87 yards. The next-level WR appears to be as dominant in the red zone as he is in the open field. QB Parrish was 8-15 for 149 yards.

Putting up almost unheard of numbers in a seemingly impossible scenario, Devyn Harris amassed 339 yards and 2 TDs rushing. That’s right… rushing. Despite the losing effort, Harris’ performance is certainly incredibly and worthy of a place in the Top 5.

TOP 5 TEAMS:

Our Top 5 Teams are unchanged from last week. With two of our teams with off weeks and 3 blowouts, not much has changed. Colquitt and Lee are projected to go undefeated until they clash head-to-head. Clinch continues to assert their dominance in single A on both sides of the ball. No one has found an answer for Fitzgerald’s run game, boasting video game numbers. Brookwood continues to coast through non-region opponents and will almost certainly continue to do so. We at ITG are eagerly anticipating the competition to heat up with region play quickly approaching.
