ITG Next is pleased to announce our 2025 Georgia High School Football All-State Team.
This is the second consecutive year that we have selected our ITG Next Georgia High School Football All-State Team, following last year’s 2024 All-State selections.
Just as we announced last year, our All-State Team is a bit different from others. We do not select a Second Team, Third Team, or honorable mention group. We pick the players whom we think are the absolute best of the best at their respective positions or position groups. We have selected those that we feel are the best offensive, defensive, and special teams players in the state.
We understand that our process will leave out many top-notch players across the state, but even if we were to make selections for a Second Team or Third Team, someone would be left out, which makes the challenge getting it right with our one and only shot.
A Salute to Excellence
We start with the offense, and a bit of a salute to a great player who never had a chance to fulfill his final high school season.
Even though he missed practically the entire season after suffering a season-ending knee injury, Travis Burgess of Grayson is a deserving All-State selection. However, we felt we had to select a quarterback that played this past season, so let the record show that even though an injury kept him off our All-State Team, the four-star North Carolina-bound Burgess is one of the best to have ever played quarterback in Georgia.
Trey Smith of Roswell is our choice for All-State quarterback after leading the state in total yards with 3,026 yards passing and 1,268 yards rushing, throwing for 27 touchdowns, and rushing for another 25 touchdowns. Smith completed 61% of his passes while leading Roswell to the Region 7-5A championship with a 6-0 record and the Class 5A semifinals with a 12-2 overall record.
There were several great quarterbacks, but when you talk about a true dual-threat quarterback who was No. 1 at his position in total yards while completing 61% of passes and leading his team to a 21-5 overall record over the past two seasons, Smith was our choice in the end.
Receivers Who Make the Difference
When you make these choices, you have to be careful to select players for their impact on the field and not for their name power. That’s why we decided to go with two players who we felt were the guys that any coach and fan would want in a passing situation that required good hands and the ability to go get the ball.
We think Athens Academy wide receiver Keyon Standifer and Roswell wide receiver Wills Campbell proved that they are two of the best at doing just that this past season. Standifer averaged over 26 yards per catch with 61 receptions, and Campbell really stood out in the postseason for Roswell in performances against Sequoyah and Thomas County Central with over 430 yards receiving combined against both teams.
Threats on Both Sides of the Ball
A few players could have been selected for offense and defense on our All-State Team, including Standifer, who had 31 touchdown receptions from his receiver spot while adding seven interceptions on defense, and Carrollton’s Zykie Helton, who dominated on both the offensive and defensive lines this year.
Sprayberry’s Jorden Edmonds is one of the state’s all-around most impactful players, playing cornerback and receiver in his high school career. Alabama has recruited the five-star standout as a defensive back, and that’s how we decided to rank him as a member of our 2025 All-State Team.
Repeat Selections
There were no repeat offensive selections from last year’s ITG Next All-State Team, but the defensive selections are a different story.
On our 2025 All-State Team, four players are repeat defensive selections, having been chosen as part of our 2024 ITG Next All-State Team, including ITG Next’s 2025 South Georgia Defensive Player of the Year, Thomas County Central defensive end Camron Brooks; Collins Hill defensive lineman Deuce Geralds; Gainesville linebacker Xavier Griffin; and Grayson linebacker Tyler Atkinson.
Buford long snapper Matthew Oh is another repeat All-State selection. Oh was one of our special teams All-State choices last year, and the Buford senior is our choice once again for the top long snapper in the state.
Georgia’s Best Overall Player
From the very start of the 2025 season, we have considered one player to be the best overall in the state, and he proved it in game after game this year. Tyriq “Ty Boogie” Green saved perhaps his best moments for when his team needed him the most and was named the GHSA Class 6A State Championship Game MVP. His 82-yard rushing touchdown was the difference in lifting Buford to a 28-21 lead over Carrollton and to the state title.
In our opinion, there’s not a more impactful player in the state than Green.
