With the playoffs approaching, Florida high school football games were as important as ever across the state during Week 10. Here’s a quick look at some of the individual highlights.
Tremaine Hughes Jr. – St. John Paul II
Hughes had a big day throwing the ball in the Panthers’ 67-0 win over Florida A&M, completing 12-of-15 passes for 211 yards and 5 touchdowns. Hughes also rushed for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns.
AJ Hairston – Monarch
Hairston also had a big day through the air in Monarch’s 40-0 win over Coral Springs, completing 19-of-26 passes for 401 yards and 6 touchdowns. Hairston also rushed for 15 yards on 3 attempts.
Evan Brown – Saint Stephen’s Episcopal
Brown made the list of Florida high school Week 10 highlights with a season-high 248-yard rushing performance. His 32 attempts included 3 touchdowns in the Falcons’ 42-27 win over Santa Fe Catholic.
Griffin Derusso – Out-of-Door Academy
Derusso rushed for 217 yards and 2 touchdowns on 22 attempts in the Thunder’s 36-14 win over St. Edward’s.
Jason Patterson – Sneads
Patterson rushed for 222 yards and a touchdown on 20 attempts in Sneads’ 40-30 win over Holmes County. Patterson also completed a pass for 5 yards and deflected a pass on defense.
Cedrick Bailey – Chaminade-Madonna
Bailey, a three-star junior quarterback, was perfect in the Lions’ 63-0 win over St. John Paul II Academy, completing all 6 of his pass attempts for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Kendrick Raphael – Naples
Raphael, a four-star senior at Naples, made the most of his three carries in the Golden Eagles’ 49-7 win over Bonita Springs, rushing for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Clayton Cannon Jr. – Stoneman Douglas
Cannon rushed for 180 yards and 2 touchdowns on 6 attempts in Stoneman Douglas’ 49-0 win over Olympic Heights. Cannon also made 2 tackles and a TFL defensively.
Kyree Edwards – Williston
Edwards rushed for 106 yards and 3 touchdowns on 6 attempts in Williston’s 48-0 shutout win over Hamilton County.
Artravian Driver – South Miami
The Cobras lost to Gulliver Prep 31-0, but Driver had a massive day defensively, making 26 tackles, 20 of which were solo, as well as a PD and a forced fumble.
Waden Charles – Somerset Academy-Canyons
Charles, one of the state’s top receivers, had one of his best games of the season in the Cougars’ 57-37 loss to Saint Andrew’s, catching 9 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown. Charles also made 9 tackles on defense.
Jean Tanelus – Naples
