Head Coach Aubrey Blackwell Leaves Montgomery Catholic

Head coach Aubrey Blackwell has left Montgomery Catholic to become the next football head coach at Benjamin Russell. Blackwell led the Knights to the 3A state championship game where they lost to 3A state champion Fyffe 21-16. Blackwell was at Montgomery Catholic for six seasons as he compiled a 54-19 record which included five straight appearances in the playoffs and an 8-5 playoff record. Blackwell will be replaced at Montgomery Catholic by Kirk Johnson who was previously the Knights defensive coordinator and assistant head coach. Blackwell now goes to Benjamin Russell to take over for Kevin Smith, where they a rough 2020 season finishing with a 2-7 record.
