Georgia Pick 6 – Week 11 Predictions

Georgia High School 6 Games of  the Week

ITG Next sports writer and broadcaster Phil Jones makes his predictions for Week 11.

Valdosta @ Lee County
This game will determine the Region 1-6A champion. Both teams are currently undefeated in region play at 2-0. The difference in this one could come down to QB play, where both teams have had personnel issues so far.

Phil’s Prediction: Lee County 16, Valdosta 14

Coffee @ Warner Robins
With their upset win last week against Ware, the Demons have put themselves in a great position to win the region title if they can knock off Coffee. But, the Trojans can pull into a tie at the top of 1-5A if they can find a way to win. The game will showcase two solid QBs in Warner Robins’ Jalen Addie and Coffee‘s A.J. Wilkerson. There is a lot on the line in this matchup.

Phil’s Prediction: Warner Robins 21, Coffee 20

Irwin County @ Clinch County
A rematch of last year’s Class 1A Public state title game saw Irwin beat the Panthers and finish off a perfect, undefeated season. Both teams have fought through COVID-19 issues, which forced each team to cancel games and miss practice time. While Irwin County has seemingly found their footing, Don Tison’s Clinch County team is still trying to find theirs. A win over Irwin would certainly put them back on track. Can they do it?

Phil’s Prediction: Irwin County 21, Clinch County 7

Brooks County @ Turner County
With these two teams tied at 3-1 in Region 2-1A, Turner County can make a run at the No. 1 seed, but it’ll have to start with a win against Brooks County and then an upset against Irwin in the final game of the year for the Rebels.

Getting past Brooks will be no easy task. The Trojans are playing well behind QB Nitavion Burrus, who has thrown for 1,078 yards and 14 TDs. Maurice Freeman’s team is looking to secure the No. 2 seed and home field advantage in the playoffs.

Phil’s Prediction: Brooks County 28, Turner County 24
Cartersville @ Calhoun
Region 7-5A foes do battle in this regular season finale that could make one of these two teams the region champs, depending on what happens with Blessed Trinity, who at 2-0 in region play still has two games left against 7-5A teams Woodland and Cass. Regardless, this battle between two top-5 ranked Class 5A teams should make for an instant classic.

Phil’s Prediction:  Cartersville 40, Calhoun 28

Veterans @ Ware County
While everyone will be talking about Gators dual-threat QB Thomas Castellanos, Warhawks QB Blake Ethridge had everyone’s attention in last week’s OT thriller versus Coffee, as he threw 4 TDs and had almost 400 yards passing. Both QBs are having standout seasons, with Ethridge throwing for 1,711 yards and 11 TDs, while Castellanos has thrown 14 TDs to go along with 1,766 yards passing this season. Veterans must win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Will they?

Phil’s Prediction: Ware County 38, Veterans 30
