Alabama Football 5A 2022

With the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship Game set to be played on Jan. 11 between #1 Alabama and #3 Ohio State, a few former Alabama high school football greats will be suiting up for the Crimson Tide. Each of these players had success in high school, and have gone on to Alabama to have even more success. Let’s take a look at five former Alabama high school greats who will be playing on the biggest stage of college football.

Malachi Moore – Hewitt-Trussville

Malachi Moore (#13) was a standout safety for Hewitt-Trussville from the class of 2020 where he totaled 156 tackles and 5 interceptions in his three years as a Husky. Moore also made First Team All-State for Class 7A during his junior and senior seasons. Moore was rated as a 4-star safety, and chose to go to Alabama where he is having a phenomenal freshman season as a starter for the Crimson Tide. Moore has 44 tackles and 3 interceptions so far during his breakout freshman season in Tuscaloosa, and looks to be a standout on defense for Alabama for years to come.

Will Reichard – Hoover

Will Reichard (#16) came out of Hoover in 2019 as the #1 kicker in the country. Reichard was a First Team All-State selection in 2018 for the Bucs, and made 27 of 31 field goals and was a perfect 109 for 109 on extra points in his high school career at Hoover. Reichard is one of the best kickers in the country this season as he is a perfect 13/13 on field goals and 77/77 on extra points for the Crimson Tide.

Brian Robinson Jr – Hillcrest

Brian Robinson Jr (#4) was a standout RB for Hillcrest in Tuscaloosa where he started for three seasons. Robinson had over 1,000 total yards and 20 TD’s during his senior season in which he earned 6A Second Team All-State honors. Robinson, a 4-star RB, decided to stay home in Tuscaloosa where he has rushed for almost 1,300 yards and 15 TD’s in his four years with the Crimson Tide.

Deonte Brown – Austin

Deonte Brown (#65) was a 4-star offensive guard coming out of Austin, one of the best guards in the country. Brown is one of the oldest on Alabama’s team, where he redshirted and played as a backup in 2016 and 2017 and has been a starter on Alabama’s offensive line for three years.

DJ Dale – Clay-Chalkville

DJ Dale (#94) was a dominant defensive tackle for Clay-Chalkville where he was selected Class 6A First Team All-State as a junior. Dale was rated as a 4-star defensive tackle, and committed to Alabama where he started as a freshman. Now a sophomore, Dale has totaled 39 career tackles in his two seasons in Tuscaloosa.
