Leon High School Lacrosse Player William Bulloch Named ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for May 2023
As a result of his on-field play during April, Leon High School lacrosse player William Bulloch has been voted the ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for May 2023. Bulloch, a junior, received 60.47% of the possible votes over a list of three additional finalists.
In a month that included a 3-3 record, a 2A-District 1 runner-up finish, and a 2A regional quarterfinal appearance for the Leon lacrosse team, Bulloch made a big on-field impact for the Lions. He scored 23 goals in six games, and he added five assists to bring his monthly total to 28 points. Bulloch also had 72 total shots during the month, including 47 shots on goal.
Bulloch posted some noteworthy individual performances in April, with the biggest his showing in an 18-2 win over Milton. Against the Panthers, Bulloch scored 10 goals, tying his season high from earlier in the spring.
For the season overall, Bulloch scored 81 goals in 18 games (an average of 4.5 per game) to rank among the state’s leaders. He added 30 assists to bring his points total to 111. Of Bulloch’s 219 total shots, 159 were on goal. He had two double-digit goal games – which came against Navarre and Milton – as well as seven of at least five goals. Bulloch also recorded five games of double-digit points throughout the 2023 season, including a season-high 13 in a 22-4 win over Lincoln.
