Naples running back Shawn Simeon has been voted the ITG Next Florida December 2023 Male Athlete of the Month. He received 52.71% of possible votes over three additional finalists across two sports: Miami Columbus power forward Cameron Boozer, Norland quarterback Ennio Yapoor, and Bartram Trail running back Laython Biddle.
In November, Simeon posted three straight impressive performances as Naples marched toward the Class 3S regional finals. Beginning with the regional quarterfinal round on November 10, the junior rushed for 253 yards and 4 touchdowns on 19 carries as Naples shut out Parrish Community 42-0.
For an encore performance, Simeon enjoyed his best showing of the season in a 63-33 regional semifinal win over Port Charlotte. That outing included a season-high 387 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns on 30 attempts, and it marked the fifth time in 2023 that he surpassed the 200-yard mark.
Simeon’s season ended on November 24 when the Golden Eagles fell 12-10 to Dunbar in the 3S regional finals. In that contest, Simeon rushed for 171 yards on 26 carries.
In those three games combined, Simeon rushed for 811 yards and 11 touchdowns on 75 attempts. He averaged 10.8 YPC in that span, and he set season highs in rushing yards and touchdowns.
A three-star prospect in the 2025 class, Simeon already holds collegiate offers from programs such as Charlotte, Florida State, and USF, and he will return to Naples for his senior season as one of Florida’s top running backs among all classifications. Having rushed for 2,040 yards and 27 touchdowns on 188 attempts (10.9 YPC) this season, could Simeon put up even more impressive numbers in 2024?
