Florida High School Football 2022 Playoff Predictions: Regional Finals

The regional finals of the 2022 Florida high school football playoffs are absolutely loaded with intriguing matchups. Here are our predictions for games in every classification.

Class 4M

The Florida high school Class 4M regional finals are headlined by a rematch between Apopka and Lake Mary. The Blue Darters won 21-17 earlier this season. East Lake vs. Ocoee is also a game to watch for – it has the potential to be close and could go either way.

Class 4S

The regional finals in Florida high school Class 4S has two rematches from earlier this season as Bartram Trail takes on Buchholz (the Bears previously won 21-6) and Venice faces off with Riverview Sarasota (the Indians won 31-21). Both the Bears and Indians are again favored in those contests, as is Lakeland over Lake Minneola. The Osceola-Vero Beach matchup is one to watch for and potentially could be decided by one possession.

Class 3M

Top matchups in Class 3M include a rematch between Edgewater and Jones and a showdown between St. Thomas Aquinas and Blanche Ely, both undefeated. Expect the Edgewater-Jones matchup in particular to be one of the state’s best this Friday night, and to likely be decided by one possession.

Class 3S

The Class 3S slate features two potential one-possession games in Columbia-Choctawhatchee and Mainland-Jensen Beach, both of which could go either way. Lake Wales is a big favorite over Zephyrhills, as is Naples over Dunbar.

Class 2M

Florida high school Class 2M’s regional finals are headlined by perhaps the state’s most compelling matchup: the season’s second meeting between American Heritage and Cardinal Gibbons. (The Patriots won the first, 21-2, on October 1.) Miami Central and Norland also have faced off this season, with the Rockets defeating the Vikings 53-7. Raines-Bolles and Calvary Christian-Lakewood both could be one-possession games.

Class 2S

Class 2S features an intriguing matchup between Florida State and Suwannee. Those squads are coming off close wins over Pensacola Catholic and West Florida, respectively. Bishop Verot-Frostproof has the potential to be close as well, while South Sumter puts its undefeated record on the line against arguably their toughest test yet in Cocoa.

Class 1M

Class 1M offers four intriguing matchups, a few of which have the potential to be close, especially the Trinity Christian-University Christian showdown. The biggest game is undoubtedly the Chaminade-Madonna-Cardinal Newman contest, with both teams entering the week unbeaten.

  • True North Classical Academy 30, Palmer Trinity 20

Class 1S

The Florida high school Class 1S regional finals feature two rematches from earlier this season, with North Florida Christian and Trinity Catholic both favored again. The biggest – and potentially closest – matchup, however, could John Carroll Catholic vs. Lakeland Christian.

Class 1R

This week’s Class 1R regional final slate is headlined by a showdown between Hawthorne and Pahokee, and it could be a close one. Northview-Chipley could be close as well, as both the Chiefs and Tigers enter the game unbeaten.
