Florida Female Athlete of the Month: Riverdale Volleyball Player Olivia Znotens

With 78.24% of the possible votes, Riverdale volleyball player Olivia Znotens is the ITG Next Florida Female Athlete of the Month for November 2023. Znotens received the honor over three additional volleyball players: Winter Park’s Fallon Stewart, Westminster Christian’s Gigi Artiles, and Carrollwood Day’s Lydia Chinchar.

Znotens, a sophomore, helped lead Riverdale to a 7-4 overall record and an appearance in the Class 6A regional semifinals. The Raiders also reached the 6A-District 12 title game during the month.

In those 11 games, which encompassed 38 sets played, Znotens posted an impressive stat line that included 241 kills, 115 digs, 30 aces, 10 blocks, and 1 assist. She recorded double-digit kills in 10 games, including six with 20+ kills.

One of Znotens’ most impressive showings was a five-set win over Naples on October 2, when she had 33 kills, 13 digs, 2 blocks, and 1 ace. Other notable performances included 32 kills against Charlotte on October 25, a season-high 9 aces in a win over Immokalee on October 16, and four consecutive games of double-digit kills and digs to end the month (and season).

Znotens’ high level of play was a constant throughout the season. Overall she compiled 534 kills across 91 sets played, along with 284 digs, 41 aces, 27 blocks, and 8 assists. She also sported a 46.6 kill percentage and a 32.1 hit percentage.
