Eagles Believe Brotherhood Will Soar

Fleming Island has gone through a bit of a rough patch over the last few seasons. With multiple starters transferring to other schools and a tough district lineup, the going has been anything but easy for the Eagles.

Needless to say, Head Coach Damenyum Springs had his work cut out for him.

Last season they had to rebuild after losing key starters on both sides of the ball. “Last season no one gave us a chance last season,” said Springs. “Kids transferred out and people predicted we go 2-8 because studs left but that just brought us close together.”

His team did just that. Last season they finished 6-3. An impressive feat when you consider the hardships the team faced coupled with their youth on the roster.

“Coming into this year we know that hard work pays off playing as a team pays off brotherhood pays off,” Springs said. They will need more than just brotherhood if they want to succeed in their district however, as the 7A district is tough to say the least.

The Eagles face consistent threats in Oakleaf and Bartram Trail who always seem to be just out of reach.

We believe that the dedication and comradery that the Eagles possess will take them back to their days of glory.
