The Clinch County Panthers have been on a roll through the 2015 season.  After a loss to the Irwin County Indians in Week Four of the regular season, the Panthers have reeled off eight straight wins by an average of nearly 37 points per contest.  Their win streak has included two postseason wins thus far; the Panthers handled business against Dooly County (Vienna, Ga.) in the first round, followed by a 16-point victory over the Johnson County Trojans (Wrightsville, Ga.) last Friday.

For their efforts, they have earned a spot in the GHSA Class A State Semifinals against the Commerce Tigers (Commerce, Ga.) on Friday.

The two teams have only met once before; in the first round of the 2014 playoffs, the Tigers emerged victorious, defeating the Panthers 37-7.  Clinch County, led by University of Georgia commit Chauncey Manac, is looking for revenge for last season’s premature exit.

A win against the Tigers would put Clinch County in the GHSA Class A State Championship against either the Irwin County Indians (Ocilla, Ga.) or the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs (Twin City, Ga.).  It would be the Panthers’ first trip to the title game since 2010; in that appearance, they took home a state title after a 24-14 victory over the Savannah Christian Raiders (Savannah, Ga.).
