Central-Phenix City High School Basketball Player Jabria Lindsey Named ITG Next Alabama Female Athlete of the Month for March 2024

A repeat winner from last season, Central-Phenix City basketball’s Jabria Lindsey has been voted the ITG Next Alabama Female Athlete of the Month for March 2024, which comes as a result of her on-court play from February. Lindsey received 65.58% of the possible votes over a list of three additional finalists, which were Danville soccer’s Layla Sherrill, Pleasant Grove softball’s Monica Rose, and Wetumpka softball’s Mya Holt.

As for Lindsey, the talented sophomore had about as impressive a stretch you can imagine during February, even despite Central-Phenix City playing only three games last month.

The first of those games came back on February 2 at home against Smiths Station, a game in which the Lady Red Devils won 58-50 in the opening round of the 7A-Area 4 Tournament. In the win, Lindsey stuffed the stat sheet with her lone triple-double of the 2023-24 season, compiling 20 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, and six steals.

With the victory, Lindsey and Central-Phenix City set up a date with Auburn for the 7A-Area 4 Tournament championship, a game in which the Lady Red Devils would go on to drop, 74-68.

Despite the defeat, this was undoubtedly one of Lindsey’s most impressive showings of the 2023-24 season, as she posted a double-double with 41 points and 11 rebounds. Lindsey also added four assists, five steals, and four blocks in the contest.

The third February contest would mark the conclusion of both Central-Phenix City and Lindsey’s 2023-24 season, as the Lady Red Devils fell to Foley in the opening round of the Class 7A state tournament, 64-57. Against the Lady Lions, Lindsey posted a stat line of 32 points, seven rebounds, five assists, four steals, and two blocks.

Lindsey’s combined stat line, albeit in a fairly limited sample size, still jumped off the paper as she posted averages of 31 PPG, 9.7 RPG, 6.7 APG, and 5 SPG during February.

This level of production was similar to what Lindsey did for the Lady Red Devils all season, as she helped lead Central-Phenix City to an 18-11 record, along with the Class 7A state tournament appearance.

For the season, Lindsey, who is only a sophomore, averaged a combined 24.5 PPG to lead the Lady Red Devils, along with 9.1 RPG, 4.4 APG, and 4.3 SPG.

In all, Lindsey had 15 double-double’s during the 2023-24 season, as well as one triple-double during the aforementioned win over Smiths Station back on March 2. Also included in that season was a season-high 42 points back on December 18 in a win over Eufaula, as well as a season-high 23 rebounds on January 15 in a loss to Pleasant Grove.

Congratulations once again to Central-Phenix City’s Jabria Lindsey, the ITG Next Alabama March 2024 Female Athlete of the Month, on a stellar month and season.
