Valdosta heads into the final month of the regular season hot as ever. After last night’s dismantling of the Lowndes Vikings, 13-3 in 6 innings, the Wildcats win streak hit seven games. Some of the key catalysts on the night included starter Luke Ard and seniors Logan Stephens and Seth Shuman. Most of the damage came in the 4th when Valdosta put up six runs on the board; taking advantage of wild pitches and numerous errors by the Lowndes’ defense.
Coach Shuman and his boys will enjoy these next few days off this week before returning to action against first-place Lee County next Tuesday (make-up from 3/25 rainout).
As for the Vikings, their season-long losing streak has now reached six games and they’ve lost nine of their last ten. Despite jumping out to an early lead thanks to a two run 1st inning, they were unable to string together a strong enough rally to close the margin. Next on tab is a date with the Colquitt Co. Packers on Friday.
