Here are our top 10 performers from recent action in the 2026 Georgia high school boys wrestling, basketball, and baseball seasons.
Wrestling
Camden County wrestler Ryder Wilder, a senior, won his fourth traditional wrestling state title while winning each of his four matches in just under two minutes total. Wilder led Camden County to its 12th straight traditional wrestling state championship and will head to Northwestern University after graduation to continue his wrestling career.
Jefferson wrestler Dallas Russell, a senior, won his fourth straight traditional wrestling state title while leading the Dragons to the GHSA Class 3A state championship this past weekend in Morrow, Georgia. After graduation, Russell will head to Oklahoma on a wrestling scholarship with the Sooners.
Mill Creek wrestler Antonio Mills, a senior, won his fourth straight traditional wrestling state title while finishing the season undefeated at 45-0. Mills will head to Ohio State University to join the Buckeyes wrestling squad following graduation.
Buford wrestler DJ Clarke, a senior, won his second career state title by winning the traditional state championship at 138 pounds this past weekend. After graduation, he will head to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to continue his wrestling career at the Division I level.
Basketball
Decatur point guard Jason Welborn, a senior, scored 21 points while grabbing four rebounds and dishing four assists with one steal to lead his team in the Region 4-5A championship game against Woodward Academy.
North Forsyth forward and center Patrick Carnes, a senior, led the Raiders to their first-round region tournament win over Denmark 67-45 with 14 points.
ELCA guard AJ Williams, a sophomore, went off against Union Grove in their 90-76 region championship win. Williams had 14 points in the third quarter alone on his way to scoring 45 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks against the Wolverines.
Elbert County shooting guard Anthony “AJ” Brown, a senior, scored his 1,000th career point in their 72-54 region win over Oglethorpe with a 21-point night that included six rebounds. He then led the team with 28 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and one blocked shot in their 78-59 win over Banks County.
Houston County guard Malik Gillespie, a senior, scored 29 points while grabbing six rebounds and five assists, leading the Bears to an exciting 64-54 overtime win over Coffee in the Region 2-5A championship game Saturday night.
Baseball
Lowndes catcher Hank Drew, a sophomore, went 2-for-4 at the plate with a home run and a double, while also throwing out a runner attempting to steal in the Vikings’ season-opening win over Ware County.
