Bozeman High School Baseball Player Trey Power Named ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for May 2024
A two-way standout for one of Class 1A’s top teams, Bozeman High School baseball player Trey Power has been voted the ITG Next Florida May 2024 Male Athlete of the Month, which stems from his stellar on-field play in April.
Power, a senior who is committed to play collegiately at Alabama State, received what was an overwhelming 99.61% of the possible votes to receive the honor, which came over three additional finalists: Seffner Christian baseball player Addy Scott, Saint Andrew’s lacrosse player Dylan Faison, and Doral Academy baseball player Sebastian Berrios.
The Bozeman Bucks have been one of the top baseball teams in Class 1A throughout the 2024 season, sitting at 25-3 overall. Bozeman is playing in the Class 1A playoffs at the time of writing, and Power is certainly a big reason why.
For the season, Power’s impact has arguably been felt most on the mound, where he has made 12 total appearances so far, 10 of which were starts. Over that stretch Power owns an 8-0 record with a 0.50 ERA and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 95-to-12 across 55.2 innings pitched, having allowed only four earned runs for the year up to this point.
Offensively, Power’s numbers are certainly not lacking either, slashing .375/.495/.512 over 26 games. Power also has one homerun so far this season, along with 27 RBIs, six 2Bs, one 3B, and three SBs to round out his stat line, along with an impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio of 8-to-19.
When talking about Power’s impact on Bozeman’s strong season, however, there was arguably no month greater than April, when he helped lead the Bucks to a 10-1 record.
During April, Power’s biggest impact likely came on the mound, where he allowed only two earned runs across 25 innings pitched. With the Bucks winning each of those four games, Power also posted a strong strikeout-to-walk ratio of 40-to-2, with his month featuring a season-high 15 strikeouts during a 5-0 win over Freeport on April 3.
Power was also strong offensively, owning a combined .276 AVG (8-for-29). Power had nine RBIs during the month, headlined by tying his season-high of three twice, and compiled one homerun, one double, and one stolen base.
Across his 10-game sample size, Power also had at least one hit in seven of those games, with some of his most impressive performances coming in victories over Destin and Bay.
Congratulations to Bozeman baseball player Trey Power, the ITG Next Florida May 2024 Male Athlete of the Month, on a phenomenal month and season.
