Balcita, Grant Headline Florida High School Football Week 7 Performances

With players such as Beachside’s Brick Balcita and Aucilla Christian’s Jace Grant leading the way, here is a look at some of the top performances in Florida high school football during Week 7.

Brick Balcita – Beachside

Balcita completed 14-of-19 passes for 201 yards and 6 touchdowns, while also rushing for 13 yards on 3 attempts in the Barracudas’ 65-6 win over Impact Christian.

Jace Grant – Aucilla Christian

Grant had one of the best all-round performances in Florida high school football Week 7. He rushed for 246 yards and 3 touchdowns on 32 carries in Aucilla Christian’s 35-28 win over Rocky Bayou Christian. The senior also made a big impact on defense, collecting 8 tackles and a sack and forcing 2 fumbles and recovering 1.

Mark Wilder – Doral Academy

Wilder rushed for 242 yards and 2 touchdowns on 15 carries in Doral Academy’s 48-21 win over North Miami on Thursday night.

Riley Blevens – Hudson

Blevens completed 17-of-27 passes for 325 yards and 4 touchdowns in Hudson’s 47-21 win over Central-Brooksville on Wednesday night.

Jeffery Jones – St. Petersburg

Jones completed 7-of-12 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown in St. Petersburg’s 31-6 win over Seminole, while also making a significant impact on the ground, rushing for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries.

Aidan Byrd – Pensacola Catholic

Byrd completed 20-of-32 passes for 332 yards and 4 touchdowns in Pensacola Catholic’s 38-17 win over Gulf Breeze.

Jayvion Showers – Pensacola Catholic

One of Byrd’s top receivers this season, Showers had 8 receptions for 155 yards and a touchdown in the Crusaders’ 38-17 win over Gulf Breeze.

Keaton Schirmer – Rutherford

Schirmer made 14 tackles in Rutherford’s 32-24 loss to Arnold, while also recording a pass defense. The senior also rushed for 6 yards on 1 carry.

AJ McFarlane – Hudson

One of the top receivers for Blevens previously, McFarlane had 6 receptions for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Cobras’ 47-21 win over Central-Brooksville.

Joey Ervin – North Florida Christian

Ervin made 5 tackles, as well as 4 TFL, 2 sacks, and two QB hurries, in North Florida Christian’s 55-0 shutout win over Florida A&M.

Jarvis Johnson – Westminster Christian

Johnson made 5 tackles in Westminster Christian’s 68-0 win over Florida Christian, while also collecting 3 TFL, 1 sack, 1 interception, and 2 QB hurries.
