Last week, the 2025 Alabama high school football season officially came to a close with an action packed AHSAA Super 7 slate from Protective Stadium in Birmingham.
A three-day span in which seven state champions were crowned, let’s take a look at some players who shone brightest on the state’s biggest stage this past week at the AHSAA Super 7.
Ezavier Crowell, Jackson, Running Back
There was likely no performance at the AHSAA Super 7 more impactful than that of Jackson senior running back Ezavier Crowell, as the Alabama signee led the Aggies to a 52-0 victory against Anniston in the 4A title game. Crowell rushed for a stellar 304 yards and five scores on 25 attempts, averaging 12.2 yards per carry.
Aaron Frye, Clay-Chalkville, Quarterback
Frye was likely the state’s top performing quarterback at the AHSAA Super 7, completing 8-of-10 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns in Clay-Chalkville’s 38-21 victory against Saraland. The Alabama State signee also rushed for a stellar 183 yards and three scores on 15 attempts, and finished with a passer rating of 286.3.
Jaxon Penn, Mars Hill Bible, Running Back
Mars Hill Bible two-way star Jaxon Penn did a bit of everything in the Panthers’ 38-21 victory over Bayside Academy in the 3A title game, which included a team-high nine total tackles, five of which were solo, as well as 1.5 TFL and a pass breakup defensively. On offense, Penn rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns on 25 attempts, which translates to an average of 8.2 yards per carry, while also catching a pass for 16 yards.
Le’Kamren Meadows, Moody, Running Back
Meadows led Moody to the 5A state title, a 25-0 victory over Vigor. The senior rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns on 25 attempts, averaging 7.4 yards per carry.
Hudson Higgins, Mars Hill Bible, Running Back
Similar to teammate Penn previously, Higgins also made a key impact on both sides of the ball in Mars Hill Bible’s 38-21 win over Bayside Academy in the 3A title game, headlined by rushing for 195 yards and two touchdowns on 22 attempts. Higgins also had six tackles, one sack, and one TFL on defense, as well as three kick returns for 52 yards.
Nehemiah McCary, Maplesville, Running Back
McCary led Maplesville to a 42-22 win over Wadley in the 1A state title game by rushing for 182 yards and two touchdowns on 14 attempts, averaging 13 yards per carry. A sophomore, McCary also three total tackles on defense.
Laquon Whisenhunt, Jackson, Linebacker
Jackson’s defense pitched a shutout in the Aggies’ 52-0 win over Anniston in the Class 4A title game, with one of the leaders from that game on the defensive end being Whisenhunt. Whisenhunt finished with a team-high 14 total tackles, four of which were solo, along with 1.5 sacks, 2.5 TFL, and one forced fumble.
Kylen Johnson, Coosa Christian, Running Back
Johnson found the end zone three times in Coosa Christian’s 29-22 win over Lanett in the 2A title game. The sophomore rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns on 20 attempts, while also hauling in two passes for 26 yards and another score.
Isaiah Brown, Clay-Chalkville, Linebacker
Brown was Clay-Chalkville’s leader on defense in the Cougars’ 38-21 win over Saraland in the 6A title game, finishing with a team-high 10 total tackles, six of which were solo. The junior linebacker also posted 2.5 sacks and 2.5 TFL.
Nadarious Morgan, Lanett, Running Back
Morgan made a significant impact on both sides of the ball in Lanett’s 29-22 loss to Coosa Christian in the 2A title game, which included 19 carries for 185 yards and two touchdowns on offense. Averaging 9.7 yards per rush, Morgan also had six total tackles on defense.
Trent Seaborn, Thompson, Quarterback
Seaborn led Thompson to a 48-10 win in the Class 7A title game over Opelika by completing 16-of-27 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns. The junior Alabama commit also had a passer rating of 176.5, and rushed for 32 yards on his two attempts.
Jamison Roberts, Saraland, Quarterback
Roberts completed 28-of-37 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns during Saraland’s 38-21 loss to Clay-Chalkville in the 6A title game. The junior also posted a passer rating of 162.6.
DeShawn Spencer, Saraland, Wide Receiver
The Auburn signee was the aforementioned Roberts’ top target in Saraland’s 38-31 loss to Clay-Chalkville. Spencer hauled in 10 receptions for 135 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 34 yards on six attempts.
Pryce Lewis, Thompson, Wide Receiver
Lewis was the top pass catcher for the aforementioned Seaborn during Thompson’s 48-10 win over Opelika in the 7A title game. The senior hauled in five receptions for 112 yards and two touchdowns.
