Similar to year’s past, the pure level of talent in Alabama high school football seems to be a step above other states on a national level.
This year’s crop of talent in Alabama will be headlined by at-least three-to-four players that you could certainly consider as “elite” prospects, along with a few others who are knocking on the door in that conversation.
There are also once again many talents underclassmen as well, some of which are already among the state’s elite.
Here is a look at who ITG Next considers to be the Top 10 recruits in the state of Alabama as we enter the 2025 season, regardless of class, each of which we would rank at-least a four-star prospect or higher.
10. Donivan Moore, Defensive Tackle, Hueytown
We begin with one of the state’s top juniors in Moore, a defensive tackle at Hueytown. The uncommitted junior will anchor a Hueytown this fall defense that allowed only 18.5 points per game to opponents a year ago.
9. Hezekiah Harris, Edge Rusher, Jemison
Alabama is home to multiple premier edge rushers this season, the first of which is Harris out of Jemison High School. The Auburn commit is the biggest name returning for Jemison this fall.
8. Vodney Cleveland, Defensive Line, Parker
One of Alabama’s top interior lineman resides at Parker High School on the defensive side of the ball in Cleveland, a Texas commit. Cleveland was a force inside for the 2024 AHSAA Class 6A state champions, posting 50 tackles, 7.5 TFL, and 5.5 sacks across 15 games.
7. Jaquez Wilkes, Edge Rusher, Wadley
A two-way standout, Wilkes enters his senior season for one of the state’s top teams in the lower classifications, Class 1A’s Wadley. The Auburn commit had 117 tackles, 18 TFL, and two interceptions defensively a year ago, while also rushing for 2,582 yards and 37 scores on offense.
6. Jabarrius Garror, Edge Rusher, Vigor
The highest-ranking junior, Garror is coming off a phenomenal sophomore season at Vigor where the edge rusher racked up 104 tackles, 56 TFL, and 21.5 sacks across 14 games. An Alabama commit, don’t be surprised if Garror even rivals those lofty numbers in 2025 also.
5. Landon Duckworth, Quarterback, Jackson
The state’s top quarterback resides at Jackson High School in Duckworth, a returning multi-year starter for the defending Class 4A state champions. Across 15 games a year ago, the South Carolina commit completed 66.7% of his passes for 3,439 yards with a 39:10 TD:INT ratio, while also rushing for 648 yards and 12 scores on 62 attempts.
4. Zyan Gibson, Cornerback, Gadsden City
An Alabama commit, Gibson is a versatile player who returns at Class 6A’s Gadsden City this fall. The defensive back will be a focal point in 2025 for a Titans team coming off a 6-4 overall season.
3. Cederian Morgan, Wide Receiver, Benjamin Russell
The first-of-three prospects we would currently consider as five-star recruits, Morgan is one of the nation’s top 2026 wide receivers, attending Benjamin Russell. Currently committed to Alabama, Morgan is coming off a stellar junior season at Benjamin Russell in which he hauled in 70 receptions for 1,162 yards and 14 touchdowns, and could potentially eclipse those totals in 2025.
2. Ezavier Crowell, Running Back, Jackson
Alabama’s premier running back resides at Jackson High School in Crowell, an Alabama commit who is entering his senior season after reclassifying during the offseason. A year ago, Crowell rushed for 1,964 yards and 31 touchdowns on 168 attempts, while also hauling in nine passes for 258 yards and two more scores.
1. Anthony Jones, Edge Rusher, St. Paul’s Episcopal
An Oregon commit, Jones is a multi-year impact player who plays a variety of different roles for St. Paul’s Episcopal, and enters his senior season this fall. One of the nation’s top edge rushers, Jones helped lead the Saints defense to an average of 12 points per game allowed last season.
