Opelika vs. Central-Phenix City
In a matchup of 7A-Region 2 heavyweights – both are ranked in the top 10 of our Class 4A-7A Top 25 rankings – Opelika will be seeking its first win over Central-Phenix City since 2015 when it hosts the Red Devils on Friday night. Both teams are off to undefeated 3-0 starts (2-0 in 7A-Region 2), and the matchup features explosive offenses led by quarterbacks Roman Gagliano and Jaylen Epps.
Prediction: Opelika 17, Central-Phenix City 30
Pinson Valley vs. Clay-Chalkville
The Indians and Cougars have split their last two meetings; now they meet for a high-profile 6A-Region 6 showdown. Clay-Chalkville, the defending Class 6A state champion, has been virtually unstoppable on offense this season, outscoring opponents 148-8, but the Cougars will be put to the test against a Pinson Valley team that is also undefeated. Pleasant Grove vs. Ramsay
In Week 4 of our Alabama high school football predictions, this is arguably the biggest game from Class 5A. The 5A-Region 5 showdown between Pleasant Grove and Ramsay comes after the Spartans and Rams split the two previous matchups between the teams. This contest features a pair of offenses that are among the best in 5A this season.
Prediction: Pleasant Grove 30, Ramsay 24
Hueytown vs. Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa
This is another big Class 6A matchup. Hueytown, the 2021 6A runner up, is off to a 1-2 start to the season and face an undefeated Patriots team that has been one of the most impressive state-wide up to this point.
Prediction: Hueytown 28, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 35
Elba vs. Brantley
If you were looking for the top matchup in Alabama football outside of Classes 5A-7A, look no further than Elba vs. Brantley. The Tigers and Bulldogs are two of the top teams in Class 1A, and both are undefeated at 3-0, making this 1A-Region 2 contest one of the best in the state this week among smaller schools.
Prediction: Elba 24, Brantley 28
UMS-Wright vs. Gulf Shores
The final entry in our Week 4 Alabama high school football predictions is this 5A-Region 1 matchup. UMS-Wright, led by star running back Cole Blaylock, will host a Gulf Shores team that features the QB/RB duo of Brendon Byrd and Ronnie Royal III in a battle of 3-0 teams.
