Alabama High School Football Offseason Transfers
The 2021 Alabama high school football season began last Friday night, and you may have found yourself asking, “Didn’t that player play somewhere else last season?” Depending on which game you were watching, the answer is most likely yes. Here are several top-rated Alabama high school football offseason transfers that you may have missed.
DL Khurtiss Perry – Park Crossing to Pike Road
Arguably the state’s top interior defensive lineman, Khurtiss Perry spent the previous two seasons in 6A with Park Crossing. The four-star recruit had a phenomenal two seasons at Park Crossing totaling 324 tackles, 71 TFL, and 26 sacks, while also being selected 6A First-Team All-State a year ago. Perry transferred to 5A Pike Road earlier this month, and will become a focal point of the Patriots defense from day one.
CB Trequon Fegans – Oxford to Thompson
The defending 7A state champions brought in a few transfers this offseason with arguably none bigger than Trequon Fegans. The four-star Miami commit shined in the back-end of 6A power Oxford’s defense the past two seasons, but now takes his talents to join a Warriors defense loaded with talent and depth. When looking at each teams secondary in Alabama high school football, it’s hard to find one better than Thompson.
OT Eston Harris Jr. – Beauregard to Auburn
When former Oxford head coach Keith Etheredge took over at Auburn, there were a few notable players that followed as well. However, one player that joined the Tigers not from Oxford was Eston Harris Jr., one of the top offensive lineman in the state. The three-star recruit now anchors an Auburn offensive line that one could argue is tops in the state.
WR Jaylen Ward – Spain Park to Thompson
Thompson has already gotten a top rated defensive back on this list, but received help at wide receiver with the addition of Jaylen Ward. Transferring from Spain Park, the three-star Middle Tennessee State commit adds depth to the Warriors receiving room. Instantly making an impact in their season opening win over Oxford, Ward should be a focal-point of the Thompson offense going forward.
QB Bennett Meredith – Spain Park to Hoover
Arguably the top quarterback move from the offseason was Bennett Meredith, who transferred to Hoover from Spain Park. The three-star quarterback instantly made an impact during the Bucs’ season opener, passing for 333 yards and three touchdowns in Hoover’s win over North Gwinnett (GA). Taking over what should be a talented Hoover offense, Meredith could be the offseason transfer that provides the biggest initial impact.
