One of the state’s top players so far this season, Wetumpka softball player Mya Holt has been voted the ITG Next Alabama Female Athlete of the Month for April 2023, receiving 63.14% of the possible votes over a list of three additional finalists.
Stemming from her on-field play during March, Holt, a Troy commit, certainly had a big month for Wetumpka softball in both the circle and at the plate. She helped lead the Lady Indians to a 19-1 record for the month.
Beginning with Holt’s impact at the plate, the junior held a .456 AVG (26-for-57) in March, along with 5 home runs, 31 RBI, and 6 doubles. Included in that stretch were noteworthy games against the likes of Stanhope Elmore, Marbury, and more, as well as a memorable showing against Lanier in which she went 2-for-3 with 2 HR and 5 RBI.
In the circle, Holt allowed only 7 earned runs in 70.1 IP during March, while compiling a 67:15 K:BB ratio. Holt posted multiple impressive outings during that span, with arguably none bigger than four perfect innings 10 strikeouts in a win over Stanhope Elmore.
As you’d likely assume with those numbers, Holt has continued that strong play throughout the 2023 season, which has the senior ranking among the state’s leaders in a few statistical categories.
As of Saturday, April 22, Holt was slashing .524/.602/1.103 with a phenomenal 1.705 OPS for one of Alabama’s top teams at the plate, while also having piled on 18 HR and 77 RBI. Holt also has 17 doubles and 5 stolen bases on the season.
Holt has made a key impact in the circle this season, owning a 27-1 record with a 0.70 ERA and 164:25 K:BB ratio in 149.2 IP. As if those numbers weren’t impressive enough, Holt has also held opponents to a combined .129 AVG against at the plate.
Congratulations again on a phenomenal 2023 season by Wetumpka softball player Mya Holt, the ITG Next Alabama April 2023 Female Athlete of the Month.
