Top 15 Georgia High School Girls Basketball Teams Across All Classifications
Preseason
The 2026-2027 Georgia high school girls basketball season could turn into one of the most star-studded seasons the state has seen in quite some time.
This year’s talent pool is one of the deepest in Georgia girls basketball, and teams featuring one or more of the state’s top players could be poised to make deep playoff runs.
North Paulding Returns Championship Core for 2026-2027 Season
I like the North Paulding Wolfpack to make another run at a state title this season.
Head coach Wes Willis led North Paulding to the Class 6A state championship last season, as the Wolfpack finished 30-2. North Paulding returns several key players who were critical to that success, including junior guard Kenzie Hinkson and senior forward Morgan Landrum.
Both were all-state selections last season.
North Paulding also is expected to add sophomore Ari McElrath after she starred as a freshman at South Paulding. McElrath made 38 3-pointers last season.
Monroe Returns Kie’Aundria Acree From Final Four Team
Monroe is another team to watch this season, as head coach Jennifer Acree’s Golden Tornadoes return a talented group from last season’s state semifinal team, including her daughter, senior Kie’Aundria “KJ” Acree.
“I believe we have a group of girls that will compete for the state championship this season,” Jennifer Acree said.
Sandy Creek Led by Morghan Reckley
Sandy Creek will be another team to watch this season.
Led by standout junior guard Morghan Reckley, an ITG Next 2025 all-state selection, Sandy Creek will be seeking another trip to the state championship game after reaching the Class 3A final last season.
The Patriots fell to Heritage-Catoosa 65-63 in overtime in the championship game.
St. Francis Returns Giaunni Rogers, Aila Courtenay
St. Francis is expected to be one of the state’s top teams this season, with senior guard Giaunni “G” Rogers and senior forward/center Aila Courtenay among its returning standouts.
Rogers, a Georgia Tech commit, was one of St. Francis’ top scorers last season.
Defending Champion Wilcox County Looks to Continue Dominant Run
Watch out for defending Class 1A-Division II state champion Wilcox County, which has been one of Georgia’s most consistent programs in recent years.
The Patriots have won at least 27 games in each of the past three seasons, finishing 27-3 in 2023-2024, 28-1 in 2024-2025, and 29-1 in 2025-2026.
Wilcox County enters the 2026-2027 season as the two-time defending Class 1A-Division II state champion.
