Wessley Roberson is ITG Next’s 2026 Glynn Academy Male Athlete of the Year, presented by Summit Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery.
Roberson, a senior, is an outfielder for the Red Terrors baseball team and will attend LSU to continue his baseball career at the next level following his graduation from Glynn Academy.
At the time of writing, there is still some unfinished business for Roberson and his Glynn Academy teammates in the GHSA Class 5A state playoffs. They have advanced to the Elite Eight, where they will take on Pope.
Roberson is a big reason for Glynn Academy’s successful season, which has the Red Terrors at 22-11 heading into the quarterfinal series.
So far, Roberson is hitting .418 with three home runs, six doubles, and a triple on the season. He has 11 RBIs, 21 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases.
Glynn Academy head baseball coach John Welborn has coached Roberson throughout his entire high school baseball career.
“I have enjoyed the privilege of seeing Wessley’s growth as not only a player but as a person,” Welborn said.
Roberson has been a member of the Red Terrors baseball program for all four years of his high school career and has been a driving force behind the Terrors’ average of 21 wins in each of those years, including their 22 wins so far this season, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by Welborn.
“Wessley has distinguished himself as a powerhouse athlete whose determination, versatility, and unwavering focus have propelled him to the forefront of Glynn Academy athletics,” Welborn said.
“He has been the sparkplug for our team throughout the years.
“As a coach, it’s a blessing when your most talented player is the hardest-working player in the room, whether it be the weight room or on the field. His commitment to working hard helped pull other players along who, in some scenarios, might not work as hard as they should.
“Wessley has all the tools in the world, and it has been special to coach a player with his type of baseball IQ.”
