Brandon Wollard, a senior at Charlton County High School, is the ITG Next Georgia Athlete of the Month. He competes on the Charlton County High School Indians track team as a member of the 4×200 relay team, and plays football for coach Demario Jones and the Indians as a slot receiver and safety.
So far this season, Woolard has played a major role for the Indians football team through their first four games.
They are 2-2 on the season, and Woolard has contributed in a big way on both the offense and the defense. He has 4 catches for 151 yards receiving, with 4 touchdowns. He also has rushed for 80 yards with 2 rushing touchdowns as well, giving him 6 touchdowns so far through just four games.
As good as Brandon has performed on the gridiron, he’s also done quite well on the track.
He qualified for the class A Division ll state track meet in each of the past two seasons, in 2024 and 2025. In 2024, he qualified for and competed in the 200meter dash, 4×100 relay and 4 x200meter relay. Then this season he qualified for and competed in the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, and the 4 x200 meter relay, which he placed 5th.
Woolard is a true local, having been born in and grown up in Charlton County, and football has always been a part of his life.
He started playing football for the Charlton County rec program at the age of 6 years old. He played recreation level for three years before beginning with a local travel football organization at age 9. He played with the Glover Brothers travel football team until he was 13 years old.
As a standout track athlete and two-way skill position player on the Indians football team, it’s no surprise that his speed is one of the main skills he possesses.
In fact, Woolard’s nickname is “Speedy B.”
Like most high school football players who have above average skill, Woolard says he has dreams of one day playing college football following his high school career.
“I’m looking for an opportunity to play college football at any level, and in any division,” Woolard said of that dream.
Charlton County’s Demario Jones, who is the Indians head football coach, praised Woolard for not just his abilities on the football field, but his abilities elsewhere.
“Brandon is a stellar senior leader for our football team,” Jones said. “He is also a hard working student, one of the strongest skill weight lifters on our team, and has become one of the top athletes in class 1A Division 2 in both football and track. He has uncanny ball skills and is not afraid to hit you,” Jones said.
The head coach also spoke about Woolard’s desire to continue playing football after high school.
“The most important thing I can say about Brandon is I have witnessed him set a goal to continue his career as a student athlete post high school, and he has worked his tail off to attain it,” Jones said.
The Indians coach turned into a bit of a cheerleader to express his enthusiasm about Woolard and his hopes of playing college football someday.
“I say with confidence that someone will be getting themselves a special person. Recruit Brandon Woolard!”
Congratulations to Charlton County High School senior Brandon Woolard, ITG Next’s August 2025 Georgia Male Athlete of the Month
