We tell you everything you need to know about the 2025 Brooks County High School football team in this preview, including roster changes and what fans can expect from the Trojans this season.
2024 Season Stats
- Overall Record: 10-5
- Points Scored: 423
- Points Allowed: 218
Key Roster Losses
The Trojans will have to replace several players who contributed to Brooks County’s 10-win season and helped them advance to the GHSA Class 1A-Division II state championship game last year.
That includes running back Chris Cole Jr., who is now at Fort Valley State University.
Also at Fort Valley State as a walk-on is wide receiver and defensive back Camauri Brinson.
Defensive end Marquis Williams, who was the 2023 Region Defensive Player of the Year, signed a scholarship offer from University of West Georgia. His presence coming off the edge will be missed this season.
Key Players Returning
Leading a talented group of returners this season is four-star wide receiver and tight end George Lamons Jr. He has committed to Texas A&M, but the junior still has two years remaining with the Trojans. He’ll be a force in Brooks County’s passing game in 2025.
Three-star defensive back and athlete Traeviss Stevenson is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 61 DB in the nation. The senior has committed to Georgia Tech over several other major schools, including UGA, Texas, and Michigan.
Defensive end Demarrion Washington is also returning for his senior season and has offers from Alabama State, Samford, and Charleston Southern.
Linebacker and tight end Anton Graham is preparing for his senior season armed with an offer from Stoney Brook.
Linebacker and athlete Caden Cobb heads into his junior season with no offers yet, according to head coach Josh McFather.
What to Expect From the Brooks County Trojans in 2025
McFather had quite the debut in 2024 as the Trojans’ new head coach, and he is expecting yet another successful season in Year 2.
“We are extremely talented on both sides of the ball, but we will have to fill some holes on both sides of the lines,” McFather said.
In addition to the returning players previously mentioned, McFather seems pleased with his returning quarterback.
“We return Junior Burrus at QB, and he has led this team to a semifinal and a state championship appearance in his first two seasons as our QB,” McFather said. “I can tell you that both he and I have high expectations for this season.”
2025 Season Prediction
This was my prediction for the Trojans heading into the 2024 season: “Brooks County has a tough regular-season schedule to get through, but once they hit the playoffs, look out. This roster gives the Trojans a great chance to win a state title in 2024. I see a 12-3 season with a trip to the state championship game.”
Can they do it again in 2025? Yes. I say they go 11-4 and make a second straight trip to the Class 1A-Division II state title game.
