Preseason – Updated 7/1/2025

Defending state champion Calhoun is the No. 1 pick in ITG Next’s 2025 Georgia high school football preseason rankings for Class 3A. Quarterback Trace Hawkins, who led Calhoun’s run to the state title after a 1-3 start last year, is back for his sophomore season.

Watch out for Troup County in 2025. Head coach Tanner Glisson’s Tigers return practically every starter from last year’s youthful squad, including leading rusher Garrison Edwards, leading receiver Davis Moncus, top scorer Javarris Warner, quarterback Chase Mosley, and McCarty Harrelson, who is rated as a four-star kicker by Kohl’s for the Class of 2027.

Junior Caiden “KD” Ivory takes over at quarterback for Peach County in 2025. He has two of the state’s best wide receivers to throw to in Zion Hudson and Cam Cherry, which should make things easier for the inexperienced Ivory. Peach County’s defense will be led by three-star safety Bryson Hughley

Sandy Creek returns four-star running back Amari Latimer, but the Patriots have a lot to replace on the roster this year.

North Hall is another team to watch in 2025 as they return dual-threat quarterback Smith McGarvey and leading receiver Cole Cable. Most of the Trojans’ defensive starters from last year’s 10-win team are back too.

  1. Calhoun
  2. Peach County
  3. Troup County
  4. Sandy Creek
  5. Oconee County
  6. Westover
  7. North Hall
  8. LaGrange
  9. Stephenson
  10. Cherokee Bluff
