Boca Raton Christian School Volleyball Player Tekoa Barnes Named ITG Next’s November 2024 Florida Female Athlete of the Month
Boca Raton Christian School volleyball player Tekoa Barnes has been voted the ITG Next Florida Female Athlete of the Month for November 2024, with the honor coming nearly a year after she won the same accolade during the 2023 season.
To receive the honor, Barnes amassed 82% of the possible votes over a trio of additional finalists, which were Choctawhatchee cross country’s Isabel Harter, King’s Academy volleyball’s Margaret Bartlow, and North Bay Haven cross country’s Margaret Bartlow.
One of Class 1A’s top programs during the 2024 Florida high school volleyball season, the Lady Blazers had a very strong season overall, and Barnes, a senior, was certainly a reason as to why.
During the season, the Lady Blazers finished the year with a 23-4 record overall, as well as the state runner-up in Class 1A. In addition to that, Boca Raton Christian also won a Class 1A-District 14 title.
As mentioned above, Barnes was a big reason for this success as well, with her game going to an even greater level during October.
A player who ranked among the state’s leaders in kills this season, Barnes finished October with a combined stat line of 184 kills, 20 aces, five blocks, 67 digs, eight assists, and 93 returns. In this stretch, Barnes had double-digit kills in all but one game, and helped lead Boca Raton Christian to a dominant 12-0 overall record during October where they would drop only three sets.
Congratulations once again to Boca Raton Christian’s Tekoa Barnes, the ITG Next Florida November 2024 Female Athlete of the Month, on an impressive October.
