A group of players headlined by True North Classical quarterback Zachary Katz, here are some of Florida high school football’s top performers from the regional semifinal round of the 2024 FHSAA football playoffs.
Zachary Katz, Quarterback – True North Classical Academy Titans
Despite throwing an interception, Katz completed 29-of-48 passes for 293 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 95 yards and another score on 17 attempts in True North Classical’s 47-39 loss to Edison.
Sterling Joseph, Running Back – Edison Red Raiders
Sterling Joseph rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns on 14 attempts in Edison’s 47-39 win over True North Classical Academy. The senior also had two receptions for 28 yards.
Byron Louis, Running Back – American Heritage Patriots
Byron Louis rushed for 207 yards and two touchdowns on 26 attempts in American Heritage’s 24-14 win over Dillard.
Von’tavius Keller, Running Back – Choctawhatchee Indians
Von’tavius Keller rushed for 179 yards and three touchdowns on 26 attempts in Choctawhatchee’s 41-7 win over Escambia. The sophomore also had a reception for 18 yards.
Bjorn Jurgensen, Quarterback – Bishop Moore Hornets
Bjorn Jurgensen completed 9-of-16 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown in Bishop Moore’s 38-15 win over Dunnellon. The senior also rushed for 91 yards and two scores on 11 attempts.
Deshon Jenkins Jr., Running Back – Bishop Verot Vikings
Deshon Jenkins Jr. rushed for 171 yards and a touchdown on 24 attempts in Bishop Verot’s 25-12 win over Lakewood. The junior also caught a pass for 13 yards and returned a kickoff for 21 yards.
Emilio Bacardi, Kicker – Lake Mary Rams
Emilio Bacardi was a perfect 7-for-7 on extra point attempts and made his lone field goal from 41 yards out in Lake Mary’s 52-32 win over Spruce Creek.
JJ Bolz, Linebacker – Bishop Verot Vikings
JJ Bolz amassed eight tackles, half a tackle for a loss, half a sack, and one forced fumble in Bishop Verot’s 25-12 win over Lakewood.
Amare Thomas, Defensive Line – Oakleaf Knights
Amare Thomas amassed 13 tackles, one TFL, and one sack in Oakleaf’s 31-14 win over Nease.
Noah Sidan, Kicker – Chaminade-Madonna Lions
Noah Sidan went a perfect 10-for-10 on extra point attempts in Chaminade-Madonna’s 70-0 win over Saint Andrew’s.
