Despite the two top-ranked teams losing their season openers unexpectedly, Brooks County and Bowdon remain atop the Class 1A-Division II poll this week.

Preseason – Updated 8/12/2024

The 2024 Georgia high school football season is finally here, and you will notice that ITG Next’s weekly rankings have a new look. This year we will rank the Top 10 teams in each classification with a total of eight rankings. This includes a separate Top 10 ranking of the “private only” teams in Class 1A-DI, Class 2A, and Class 3A. Here is a look at our updated 2024 Georgia high school football preseason rankings for Class 1A-Division II in the new format.

The Josh McFather era begins at Brooks County, and the first-year head coach has got one of the most talented teams to ever take the field in Quitman.

Bowdon and head coach Rich Fendley will be looking for their third straight state championship, but Manchester, who lost to the Red Devils in the 2023 state title finale, is one of the favorites to make it all the way this year.

Head coach Kurt Williams, who left Lanier County following last year’s landmark playoff season, has returned to Macon County for the 2024 season, and he’ll look to bring that same winning formula with him to his former football home.

Look for head coach Bradley Warren and his McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers to make  some noise this season with nine starters returning on defense.

  1. Brooks County
  2. Bowdon
  3. Manchester
  4. Macon County
  5. McIntosh County Academy
  6. Irwin County (+2)
  7. Emanuel County Institute
  8. Clinch County (-2)
  9. Schley County (+1)
  10. Dooly County (-1)
