Tocoi Creek Toros 2024 Football Preview

We tell you everything you need to know about the 2024 Tocoi Creek High School football team in this preview, including roster changes and what fans can expect from the Toros this season.

2023 Stats

  • Overall Record: 5-5
  • Points Scored: 241
  • Points Allowed: 260

Key Losses

The Tocoi Creek defense suffers the biggest losses from last year’s team, according to head coach Zach Harbison. That includes two players from up front and a couple of defensive backs.

Defensive lineman Carson Collins and defensive lineman and linebacker Jackson Christoforo do not return. Collins had 54 tackles with nine sacks last year. Christoforo also was a factor up front with 100 career tackles to his credit, along with four sacks in 2023.

In the secondary, defensive backs Parker Webster and Micah Ragin do not return. Webster had 70 career tackles with a sack. Ragin ended his Toros career with 62 tackles with five sacks last season.

Who’s Back

Tocoi Creek returns several players this year, including quarterback Ryan Killmer. As the starter the past two seasons, Killmer threw for 2,103 yards and 20 touchdowns over that span. That includes last year’s 1,529 yards passing and 16 TDs.

Killmer is joined by returning running backs Vincent Galella, a junior, and Davian Garcia, a senior.

Junior wideout Julio Santiago, who enjoyed a breakout season last year with 69 receptions for 790 yards and seven TDs, is back.

Other returners include tight end Zander Erasmus and linebackers Aiden Matos and Blake Warner.

What to Expect

The Toros are no longer the new kids on the block as they begin season number four. Harbison enters his second season as the Toros’ head coach, and he believes his team is ready to take a big step after returning many key players from last year’s five-win squad.

“Our guys have attacked the offseason, and we return a lot of Friday night production this year,” Harbison said.

Tocoi Creek finally has a multi-year starter at the team’s most important position with Killmer at QB, which could make the 2024 season one to watch for the Toros.

“Our program’s success could come down to staying healthy this year,” Harbison said.

Prediction

The Toros enjoy their best year yet with an 8-4 overall record.
