2023 Stats

Key Losses

Spruce Creek quarterback Luke Smith will not return following his graduation. He had a phenomenal senior year that saw him complete 119-of-213 pass attempts for 1,886 yards and 20 touchdowns. He only had three interceptions for the entire season. Smith also was effective running the football with 191 yards rushing and three TDs. He is continuing his career collegiately with the Kohawks of Coe College.

Linebacker Andrew Halleran’s production will be missed as he finished the 2023 season with 105 tackles and 4 ½ sacks. He also had an interception last year.

Head coach Andy Price said other key players not returning are offensive lineman Truth Moody and linebacker John Benning III.

Who’s Back

The Hawks bring back some serious talent this season.

Returning for the 2024 campaign is University of Pitt commit Tony Kinsler, a slot receiver who had 64 receptions for 1,050 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. He also had 24 carries for 322 yards and four TDs in 2024.

Another slot receiver the Hawks welcome back is Denali Campbell, who has 57 career receptions for 743 yards and six touchdowns. He has also been a factor in the run game so far with 109 carries for 485 yards and eight TDs.

Senior running back Anthony Hayden is another weapon returning for the 2024 season. He had 760 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns last year.

Defensive back Kamron “Wam” Chamble returns, having already committed to Kennesaw State.

Derry Norris is a returning defensive lineman with over 50 offers, according to Price. Norris announced his commitment to Georgia Tech on June 28.

What to Expect

With that much talent returning, Spruce Creek has high hopes for the 2024 football season.

“Our expectations are very high given the amount of returners and talented players on the 2024 team,” Price said. “We can hopefully win a district championship and make a run in the regional playoffs this season.”

Price wasn’t shy when talking about where this year’s team ranks compared to Hawks teams from seasons past.

“I think this is the best team in Spruce Creek history talent-wise,” Price said.

It’s worth pointing out that the Hawks won two major 7-on-7 tournaments this offseason: the UCF tournament and RL3 Foundation Motivation Day tournament

Prediction

This is their year: 12-3 overall record.
