Georgia produces some of the nation’s best guards in high school basketball. Of the 28 top-rated Class of 2024 players from the state, over half are guards. Only four, however, are considered to be combo guards. As the name suggests, a combo guard exhibits great characteristics of both a point and shooting guard, but doesn’t truly excel in one category or the other. Here is a look into the four best combo guards in Georgia high school basketball from the Class of 2024, according to 247Sports.
Jaeden Mustaf – Overtime Elite (City Reapers)
Starring for Overtime Elite’s City Reapers squad, Jaeden Mustaf currently averages 16.6 points, 8.3 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per 40 minutes.
He is rated as the seventh-best combo guard in the nation and has committed to play for head coach Damon Stoudamire’s Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets next season alongside fellow Overtime Elite standout Darrion Sutton.
Mustaf excels in finishing off the drive and demonstrates toughness in the post, not often seen in guards. These skills, along with his excellent passing abilities, have led Mustaf to be nominated for the prestigious McDonald’s All-American Game in April.
Gicarri Harris – Grayson
Gicarri Harris has gained national attention for his impact on a nationally ranked Grayson squad. The four-star Purdue commit has proven to be a leader for the 19-2 Rams, who allow under 54 points per game. That is reflected in Harris’s play, as he thrives on physical defense and proves to be a powerful finisher with spot-up shooting capabilities on offense.
His talents appear to be a great fit for the Boilermakers alongside likely returning star guards Fletcher Loyer and Braden Smith.
Kyle Greene – Pace Academy
To no surprise, the wildly successful Pace Academy program has produced another future collegiate star. Kyle Greene, who committed to UCF in November of 2023, is dangerous from beyond the arc, shooting 41% from three (a team-leading mark).
Despite only averaging just over 10 points per game, Greene is active on the defensive end, forcing an average of 3.5 steals per region contest, another team-leading stat.
Additionally, he has become more involved in rebounding compared to last season, increasing his per-game total by over 40%.
Greene’s Knights currently hold an 18-3 record and appear nearly unstoppable in the 4A classification, due in large part to his contributions.
Jeremiah Wilkinson – The Skill Factory
After a stint with the McEachern Indians, Jeremiah Wilkinson chose to round out his college career at The Skill Factory, a developmental program similar to that of Overtime Elite.
Obvious from his film, Wilkinson maintains a high motor and never shies away from contact. His athleticism itself earned him offers from several major college programs, and the 6-foot guard settled on the Cal Golden Bears after decommitting from Mississippi State in May 2023. Wilkinson also fielded offers from Florida, Butler, and Ole Miss.
