Here are our weekly “Pick-6” predictions as we enter Week 8 of the 2023 Florida high school football season. The slate includes a massive showdown in Miami.
Norland vs. Miami Central
Easily the biggest game in Week 8 of the 2023 Florida high school season comes in south Florida, where Norland (6-0) and Miami Central (3-2) collide in a star-studded Class 2M-District 13 matchup. Both teams are in the Top-5 of our Classes 1-2 and SSAA rankings. The Vikings fell to Miami Central 53-7 during the 2022 regular season, and again, 34-20, in the 2M regional finals.
Prediction: Miami Central 30, Norland 21
Miami Northwestern vs. Booker T. Washington
Yet another big 2023 high school Week 8 matchup in south Florida is this Class 2M-District 14 clash between Miami Northwestern (2-5) and Booker T. Washington (3-2). The Bulls have won the last six in the series, including a 26-7 victory a year ago.
Prediction: Booker T. Washington 27, Miami Northwestern 24
True North Classical vs. Bradford
Two of the top defenses in Classes 1M and 2S, respectively, collide Friday night as True North Classical (6-0) hosts Bradford (6-0). Both teams field strong offenses as well, and on defense the Titans are allowing 7.2 PPG, while Bradford is giving up only 4.3 PPG.
Prediction: Bradford 24, True North Classical 17
NSU University vs. Westminster Academy
The first SSAA matchup of the year to be included in our weekly Pick-6 series is a showdown of unbeatens between NSU University (6-0) and Westminster Academy (6-0). The Sharks and Lions last met a year ago, with Westminster Academy winning by a final score of 31-6.
Prediction: NSU University 33, Westminster Academy 27
University Christian vs. Trinity Christian
In a Class 1M-District 1 showdown between two of the top teams in the Jacksonville area, University Christian (4-2) takes on Trinity Christian (4-3). The teams split a pair of meetings last year, with Trinity Christian claiming a 20-13 win in the regular season, and University Christian picking up a 36-27 victory in the 1M regional finals.
Prediction: Trinity Christian 28, University Christian 20
Titusville vs. Cocoa
The final Pick-6 matchup of the week is this Class 2S-District 12 showdown between Titusville (7-0) and Cocoa (5-1). Titusville and Cocoa previously met a year ago; the Tigers won by a final score of 47-0.
Prediction: Cocoa 38, Titusville 17
