Dylan Raiola. Sammy Brown. KJ Bolden. These names are synonymous with excellence in Georgia high school football’s Class of 2024. Not surprisingly, the five-star recruits are easily recognizable for their dominant play each week. However, other players stand out for their respective programs but are rewarded with lesser ratings. Indeed, stars are not a perfect science. With that in mind, we look at five low three-star prospects in Georgia (247Sports rating below 86) who could increase their stock rapidly in their senior seasons.
Caden Williams – Running Back, Calhoun
One of the more notable running backs in Georgia – among three-star prospects or otherwise – Williams, a Liberty Flames commit, holds a rating of just 84. The bruising, yet shifty ballcarrier rushed for over 1,100 yards last season and accounted for 17 total touchdowns. His efforts earned Calhoun a signature victory over region rival Cartersville and a quarterfinal berth in the Georgia Class 5A playoffs. The three-star prospect chose Liberty over a pair of ACC offers in Boston College and hometown Georgia Tech.
Ronald Moore Jr. – Cornerback, Spalding
Moore, like Williams, is rated at 84 and is also a Liberty commit. His prolific junior campaign included 6 interceptions, tied for ninth statewide. Moore excels in man coverage, but he also makes great use of his eyes, often beating receivers to the pass’s intended destination. He picked up several Group of 5 offers and an FCS offer from powerhouse North Dakota State.
Hunter Teal – Tight End, Walton
Teal is barely considered a three-star prospect, notching a rating of just 82. However, his on-field play speaks otherwise. In a dynamic Raider offense last season, Teal hauled in 50 passes for nearly 1,000 yards, both team-leading marks. He averaged nearly 20 yards per reception, and he also displayed blocking prowess that allowed MaKari Bodiford to rush for over 1,500 yards. The Miami (OH) commit is poised for a special senior season if he can maintain the same level of production.
Bryce Clavon – Quarterback, Kell
Clavon is widely recognized for his baseball skill. Considered one of the best players in the nation for his class, Clavon is likely to be selected high in the next MLB Draft. That stardom often overshadows his impact on the football field. As Kell’s quarterback, he passed for 2,668 yards and 24 scores last season, and he led the team in rushing as well, gaining 789 yards and 15 more touchdowns on the ground. While baseball appears to be his immediate future, Clavon can always fall back on his football talents if necessary.
Kelvin Hill – Cornerback, Carrollton
Hill was a key contributor defensively on Carrollton’s 7A state runner-up squad last year. He intercepted 5 passes and continues to be a physical tackler, upending ballcarriers with sheer force. Despite his smaller stature, this three-star UAB commit makes the most of his time on the field and will join two other returning defensive backs in forming one of the better secondaries in Georgia Class 7A this season.
