Hewitt-Trussville Girls Indoor Track Wins State Championship

In track and field, every point in every event counts. The Hewitt-Trussville girls indoor track and field team captured the 7A state title at the Birmingham CrossPlex, defeating the Hoover Lady Buccaneers by only one and a half points. The Lady Huskies captured their first-ever championship in indoor track and field. Hoover had previously won six of the last eight girls state championships in 7A. Kelsey Martin of Hewitt-Trussville also won the long jump and was the only competitor to clear the 18-foot mark.
