7 Leading College Football Freshmen from Florida High Schools

Florida high schools produced a Class of 2022 that was brimming with talented college football recruits. Now that group of freshmen is beginning to take the game by storm at the next level. Five weeks into the 2022 season, let’s catch up with some budding stars who were among the state’s top 50 recruits.

Kaytron Allen – Penn State

A four-star prospect at one of the most well-known of Florida high schools, IMG Academy, Allen is among the college football freshmen who have made the biggest impact so far this season. In four games with Penn State, he has rushed for 217 yards and 3 touchdowns on 36 carries and caught 3 passes for 38 yards.

Shemar Stewart – Texas A&M

The state’s top recruit in the 2022 class, Stewart has already made a big impact for Texas A&M’s defense. The former five-star prospect out of Monsignor Pace has compiled 10 tackles, 1.5 TFL, and 1.5 sacks in the Aggies’ first four games.

Kamari Wilson – Florida

Wilson, a four-star safety from IMG Academy, has already played a key role at Florida, where he is quickly emerging in the Gators’ secondary. He’s recorded 9 tackles and 0.5 TFL through four games.

Jaylon Glover – Utah

One of Florida high school football’s top rushers a year ago at Lake Gibson, Glover has continued that success as a freshman at Utah. In three games for the Utes, Glover has carried the ball 31 times for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Daylen Everette – Georgia

Everette was a five-star cornerback from IMG Academy a year ago, and he’s already made an impact with defending national champion Georgia this season. In the Bulldogs’ first four games, the freshman compiled 6 tackles and a pass defense.

Nikai Martinez – UCF

Martinez, a former four-star prospect from Apopka, has appeared in four games for UCF. During that span, the freshman defensive back has compiled 5 tackles, 1.5 TFL, and a sack.

Sam McCall – Florida State

A former four-star prospect out of Lake Gibson, McCall has emerged as a key name on Florida State’s special teams. The freshman has so far returned five kickoffs for 92 yards, while also making one tackle and a pass defense on defense.
