5 Former Alabama High School Basketball Stars to Watch for in the 2022 NCAA Tournament

Similar to former Florida high school stars, Alabama high school basketball also has a few former stars that will also play key roles for their teams in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Of those former Alabama High School Basketball players who will be dancing this March, which names should you be keeping an eye out for?

Tevin Brown – Murray State Racers

One of the nation’s best mid-major players, the former three-star recruit out of Fairhope High School from the Class of 2017 is averaging an impressive 16.9 points per game (PPG) while shooting 38.9% from three-point range, as well as 5.5 rebounds per game (RPG) and 3 assists per game (APG). The Racers recently clinched an automatic bid into March by winning the OVC conference tournament.

Colby Jones – Xavier Musketeers

A three-star from Mountain Brook High School, as well as the No. 1 player in the state of Alabama for the Class of 2020, Jones is enjoying a career year as a sophomore averaging 11 PPG, 7.6 RPG, and 3 APG. The Musketeers currently sit firmly on the Bubble, and will likely need to win a game or two in the Big East Tournament to get in.

Au’Diese Toney – Arkansas Razorbacks

A former four-star guard and the state’s No. 2 player back in the Class of 2019 out of Trinity Christian Academy, Toney has had an impressive first season at Arkansas after transferring from Pittsburgh in the offseason. Starting for the Razorbacks, Toney has averaged 10.4 PPG on 52% shooting from the field, while also averaging 5.3 RPG for the SEC’s No. 4 seed in the conference tournament.

JD Davison – Alabama Crimson Tide

The state’s top recruit from a year ago, the former five-star Calhoun standout and two-time Alabama High School Mr. Basketball award winner Davison is averaging 8.6 PPG, 4.7 RPG, and 4.1 APG for the Crimson Tide as a freshman this season. Alabama is the No. 6 seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament, and is a likely five-or-six seed in the NCAA Tournament.
