4 Questions With Seabreeze Football Coach Patrick Brown

We spoke with Seabreeze football coach Patrick Brown about the Sandcrabs start to the 2021 season, players that have taken noticeable jumps from last season to now, and more.

Q: Your team has impressed through the early-part of the season. What about this group has impressed you most?

A: Our ability as a team to deal with adversity early in this season so far and still hold teammates to our Sandcrab Standard.

Q: Who are some players that you have seen take a noticeable jump from last season to now?

A: First would be Steven Taylor our MLB. Ever since our Mike LB graduated we have been grooming him to take the reigns and he has done so since January of 2021. As a football player on the field and a leader off & on the field. Next is Blake Boda improvement under Coach Matt Johnson tutelage. His God-given arm talent and athleticism with Coach Johnson’s knowledge of the game is taking his game to a level of play with a unseen type of confidence even for BB himself. Lastly Tashod Troutman has put it all together his senior year. We have seen him explode all summer in 7×7 tournaments with huge games, and this last game vs University we saw an example of the plays he is capable of making on three of his catches being extremely contested.

Q: One player in particular that has had a strong start to the season is senior OLB Jeremy West. What has impressed you most from his play so far, as well as your defense as a whole?

A: What is most impressive about Jeremy West is his ability to take the coaching and immediately apply it on the field in a game-like setting. We call him “The Technician” because he has a professionalism about him where he makes sure he is maximizing the results he is getting out of each rep.

Q: Your offense has had success early-on this season. What have you seen from this group overall compared to previous years?

A: Our offense has tasted some successful moments, but has not had success yet. Our Standard is not low for this group. Coach Johnson and Jackson do a phenomenal job of reiterating what the Standard looks-like and most of the kids are doing a great job trying to obtain it daily. Difference I see between this group and previous years is the ability to be explosive at multiple positions.
