4 Questions With Providence Football Head Coach Bobby Dan McGlohorn
We spoke with Providence football head coach Bobby Dan McGlohorn about what we can expect from his Stallions team next season.
Q: Who gave you your first real opportunity in coaching?
A: Jeff Herron of Camden County when I was a student-teacher at the University of Georgia and Inman Sherman at South Sumter High School in Bushnell, Florida.
Q: What’s your history there at Providence? Have you coached or do you now coach other sports in addition to football?
A: We had a tough first year and have made steady progress the last two years with back-to-back winning seasons and a region championship. In the last two years, we are 12-5 and went to the playoffs twice.
I work closely with our competition weightlifting team and follow our track team closely. I also have a number of players who play basketball, baseball, and lacrosse.
Q: The pandemic was disruptive for football (and other fall sports). How did you guys fare last year?
A: The pandemic was a challenge for everyone. The easy part was kicking the ball off on Friday nights. Monday through Thursday was the real challenge with logistics and precautions to keep players, coaches, and fans safe.
Q: How are things looking for the upcoming season for you and your team? What are your expectations?
A: The future is bright at Providence School for football. We return a number of starters, and we are excited about the new faces in new places. The rest is up to us to work hard and play hard in practice and games.
