We spoke with McDonough football head coach Rodney Cofield about his new position.

Q: Congratulations on being named the head coach at McDonough. You’re going back home, so to speak, right?

A: Yes, sir, close to home in Henry County, where my daughter will be attending school also.

Q: Some people may not be familiar with McDonough High School. Is this a new school?

A: Brand new school facility birthed from the old Henry County school.

Q: As excited as I’m sure you are about what opportunities awaiting you at McDonough, I know you have some mixed feelings as you say goodbye to Douglass. What would you want to say to the fans of Douglass High School?

A: To say thanks for 11 amazing years working with all stakeholders and the community

Q: What will be your approach at your new football home? Will you have the same schemes that you ran as head coach of the Astros?

A: Yes, sir, pretty much. We have had great success with our created scheme, which is adaptable to different personnel.
