We chat with new Park Vista head football coach Brandon Walker about the Cobras’ upcoming season, as well as the overall future of the program.
Q: Entering your first season at the school, what are some goals that you have for this Park Vista football program in both year one and going forward?
A: Entering my first season at Park Vista, our year one goals are to be better than we were the week before, and be in a position to win the district at the end of the season. If we get better each week, we will be playing good football as we begin district play in week six. Moving forward, that goal will remain the same. We will never be satisfied with where we are, and we will continue to get better each week.
Q: Looking ahead to this season, what excites you most about this 2022 Cobras team?
A: What excites me most about our team is that this year is going to provide a great opportunity for some of our underclassmen to show what kind of players they are. With the loss of many players from last year’s team, many underclassmen have been presented with the opportunity to showcase their talents. I’m super excited to see them grow and develop.
Q: Who are some names that could play key roles for Park Vista this season, and what potential role could each have?
A: Some names that could play key roles for the Cobras in 2022:
- Aidan Mahon – TE/LB. Aidan will be a force on both sides of the ball. The key for him is staying healthy as he plays a big role for the Cobras.
- Jeff Duble – DL/RB. Jeff is a player who can play multiple positions on either side of the ball, and is a great leader.
- Logan Harold – QB. Logan gained some valuable experience in 2021, and we will rely on his arm and athleticism to lead our offense.
- Devin Connally – WR/DB. Devin is a player who has really shined during fall camp. He will be a primary target for us on offense, and he adds some much-needed depth to our secondary.
Q: Based on what you have seen since coming on board, what has impressed you most about this Park Vista football team?
A: The thing that has impressed me most since coming to Park Vista has been the work ethic of the team. We are fortunate to have a team full of players who like to work. They are committed to the grind. They had a great summer in the weight room, and they have put forth great effort during fall camp. There is no substitution for hard work, and these guys take that to heart.
