2026 Georgia High School Girls Wrestling Rankings

Top 15 Georgia High School Girls Wrestling Teams Across All Classifications

Updated 2/1/2026

The GHSA recently hosted its 2026 Girls Team Dual Wrestling State Championships at two separate sites, with a first-time state champion taking home the Division 1 crown and last year’s Division 2 state champion taking home the trophy for a second straight season.

At Carrollton, Camden County’s girls wrestling program showed their male counterparts that they too can represent the school’s overall notorious wrestling prowess, as they defeated Greenbrier to capture their first ever girls state title.

The final eight teams that met at Carrollton were Camden County and Campbell, Morrow and Gainesville, River Ridge and Greenbrier, along with Shiloh and Harris County.

In the Division 2 championship, the host Indians took advantage of their familiar surroundings and several solid performances in defeating Mt. Zion-Jonesboro, Jordan, and Long County in the finals to win their second straight state championship.

Up next for Georgia high school girls wrestling will be the area tournaments, then sectionals, followed by the traditional state championships.

The Georgia girls wrestling programs around the state have wrapped up their region tournaments and sectionals, and the eight winners in each division are now preparing to head to the GHSA Girls Team Duals State Championships

Because of expected winter weather conditions, the state championships have been moved back to Jan. 23. The host sites will remain the same with the girls Division 1 championships to be held at Carrollton High School, and the Division 2 championship to be held at Lumpkin County.

Last year’s state champions will have the opportunity to defend their titles after both Division 1 state champion Greenbrier and Division 2 state champion Lumpkin County won their respective sectional matchups last week.

Here are the results of last week’s Division 1 sectionals:

  • River Ridge defeated Woodward Academy.
  • Greenbrier defeated McEachern.
  • Harris County defeated South Gwinnett.
  • Gainesville defeated Richmond Hill.
  • Campbell defeated Evans.
  • Morrow defeated Cherokee.
  • Camden County defeated Jackson County.
  • Shiloh defeated East Coweta.

Here are the results of last week’s Division 2 sectionals:

  • Long County defeated North Oconee.
  • Mt. Zion-Jonesboro defeated Hardaway.
  • Ridgeland defeated Baldwin.
  • Gilmer defeated Putnam County.
  • Lumpkin County defeated Oglethorpe.
  • Pierce County defeated LaFayette.
  • Jordan defeated Stone Mountain.
  • Jefferson defeated Brantley.

The state championships in each division will kick off at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 23. The schedule begins with the round of eight teams, followed by the semifinals, then round one of the winners bracket, followed by the consolation semifinals, and, finally, the consolation finals and championship finals.

The Division 1 round of eight matchups will feature defending champion Greenbrier taking on River Ridge, Harris County battling Gainesville, Camden County going against Shiloh, and Campbell battling Morrow.

The Division 2 round of eight will include defending champion Lumpkin County taking on Pierce County, Jordan taking on Jefferson, Long County battling Mt. Zion-Jonesboro, and Ridgeland taking on Gilmer County.

Noticeably absent from this year’s state duals is Carrollton, last year’s Division 1 finals runner-up and two-time state champion. The Lady Trojans placed third in the region tournament and will miss the state team duals for the first time since 2022. Carrollton wrestlers will now try to make amends at the upcoming state individuals.

Teams to watch out for in Division 1 include defending champion Greenbrier and the Red Elephants of Gainesville, who won their region for the third consecutive year with an impressive showing in wins over Winder, North Forsyth, and Jackson before defeating Richmond Hill in the sectionals to advance to a third straight duals state championship.

Also look out for Abe Fernandez’s Camden County girls grapplers, who are aiming to match their grappling prowess with their Camden County boys wrestling counterparts.

In Division 2, keep an eye on defending champion Lumpkin County, Jordan, and traditional state powerhouse Jefferson.

With just 16 teams remaining in the two divisions combined, the week’s rankings become our top 15 plus one. Here are our Georgia high school girls wrestling top 16 rankings:

Girls wrestling programs around the state are preparing for their area meets in the upcoming weeks. These meets will determine the teams that will advance to compete in the 2026 Girls Team Dual Wrestling State Championships on Jan. 23-24.

The Georgia girls wrestling programs will be looking to capture a state championship this season, with Division I and Division II titles at stake. Last year was the first season that the GHSA had two separate divisions for girls wrestling, as the sport continues to accommodate its growth.

The defending state champions are Greenbrier and Lumpkin County. Greenbrier won the Division I state championship last year, defeating Carrollton in the finals. Lumpkin County is the defending Division II champions, having defeated Jordan in the 2025 finals, and they are the top-ranked team in this week’s top 15 poll.

Lumpkin County is led by two of the state’s best wrestlers, who happen to be sisters. Greta Garbuzovas and Nora Garbuzovas are coming off sensational seasons in which they each captured state championships, with Nora winning at 135 pounds and Greta at 140 pounds. Their efforts helped Lumpkin County win its first girls wrestling state championship. So far, the Indians are looking like one of the favorites for a Division II state championship, which would be their second straight.

Greenbrier will try to defend their Division I state championship led by a host of top-tier wrestlers, including the sister combo of Jansen Drumgoole and Journey Drumgoole, Josie McQuillan, and Abigail Sekajipo.

Ella Hughes is one of Jefferson’s top wrestlers at 135 pounds. She recently represented Team Georgia at the Fargo Nationals, where she dominated in her weight class, claiming first place. She’ll be one to watch at the upcoming state championships.

Other top wrestlers include Houston County duo Kaitlyn Horn at 105 pounds and Mikayla Williams at 110 pounds.

Camden County’s Breanna Higgins is one to watch wrestling at 100 pounds, along with Lee County’s Delilah Betances, wrestling at 115 pounds.
