We have a new No. 1 team this week as the Worth County Rams take over the top spot in our 2025 Georgia high school football rankings for Class A1-Division I. Head coach Jeff Hammond’s Rams won yet again in impressive fashion, this time a 30-7 rout of the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane. The win snapped an 11-game winless streak against Fitzgerald.
Toombs County did not play last week, and the idle week actually allowed Worth County to take over the top spot, as it had become clear with each passing week that the Rams are playing at an elite level this season.
The loss by Fitzgerald drops them out of the Top 10 and allows Jeff Davis to assume the final spot in this week’s Class 1A-Division I rankings.

Preseason – Updated 6/11/2025
Here are ITG Next’s 2025 Georgia high school football preseason rankings for Class 1A-Division I.
Toombs County did graduate 13 seniors, but there’s still a ton of talent returning from last year’s state championship team, including a dominant front seven on defense, which head coach Buddy Martin predicts will be even better than last year.
Worth County and Thomasville may have the best one-two quarterback combination in this class in Lyndon Worthy and Cam Hill, respectively, returning to lead their offenses.
Speaking of QBs, new Commerce head coach Lenny Gregory will have returning junior Layden Bryson leading the Tigers’ offense this year.
Look for Rabun County to bounce back in 2025.
Although Fitzgerald and Dublin may have lost a bit too much talent to graduation, I’m going to trust that veteran head coaches Wesley Tankersley and Roger Holmes will find a way when it’s all said and done.
