2025 Georgia High School Football Rankings: All Classifications

Top 25 Georgia High School Football Teams Across All Classifications

Updated 11/2/2025

Our final regular season 2025 Georgia high school football rankings sees several changes, with Roswell, Sandy Creek, and Valdosta making the biggest jumps from their previous positions a week ago.

Roswell moves up to No. 8 with yet another big win, this time over Milton last week. Roswell defeated Gainesville two weeks ago, and now the win over Milton gives head coach Jonathan Thompson and his Roswell Hornets the Region 7-5A title and No. 1 seed heading into the first round of the Class 6A state playoffs, which begin on Nov. 14.

The Valdosta Wildcats and Sandy Creek Patriots won big rivalry games to clinch their respective regions. The Wildcats move up to No. 13 in our poll, and the Patriots are the No. 14 team this week.

Douglas County falls out of the top 25 for the first time this season, allowing three-time state champion Bowdon to move into the top 25.

Teams ranked one through nine retain their positions from a week ago.

Updated 10/26/2025

This week’s 2025 Georgia high school football rankings sees the most movement we’ve had since we’ve been ranking the 25 best teams in Georgia, with two top 10 teams losing in last week’s games.

Gainesville lost to Roswell 37-35 in a key Region 7-5A matchup. Gainesville went into the matchup ranked No. 8 in our poll, while Roswell was at No. 17.

The other top 10 team to fall last week was Houston County, which lost to Thomas County Central in another big Class 5A region battle. The Yellow Jackets and Bears were playing for the Region 2-5A title, and it was TCC that demonstrated why they are not just the region’s top team but one of the state’s best programs with a 31-7 win over a very good Bears program.

The other ranked team to lose last week was Peach County, which was ranked 18th. They fell to Cairo 38-31 in yet another key region matchup in Class 3A. With the win, Cairo assumes the top seed in Region 1-3A with one game remaining against Westover, which is 3-1 in region play. The winner will win the region in one of several contests that will decide region champions.

With the win over Gainesville, Roswell moves into the top 10 at No. 10 this week, while the Red Elephants fall to No. 11. Houston County tumbles out of the top 10, falling to No. 16. Peach County remains ranked but falls nine spots to No. 25 this week.

Creekside moves into the top 10, up two spots to No. 9, and Sandy Creek jumps three spots with one of the week’s most impressive wins, a 44-0 shutout victory over Mary Persons.

The top of the standings remains unchanged, as the top seven teams all won last week.

Grayson and Buford remain at the top of our 2025 Georgia high school football rankings as we bring you the top 25 teams across all classifications. In fact, every team remains locked in to the same spot as last week, so no changes this week.

McEachern and Hillgrove faced off in a battle of unbeaten Class 6A teams in Powder Springs, Georgia, in what was billed as the top game in the state, with the high-powered Indians offense going against a Hillgrove defense that had recorded five shutouts in their first seven wins.

McEachern ended any thoughts of a sixth shutout by the Hawks with an opening drive that ended in a touchdown. McEachern took a 14-0 lead and never trailed on the way to a 35-14 win to take command in the battle for the Region 3-6A top seed. The Indians weren’t able to move up in the standings, as no teams above them lost, so the Indians remain as the No. 15 team.

Looking ahead to the upcoming week, things will start to get interesting as teams finish up their regular season schedules with key region matchups that will determine who gets the top seed in each region and, in some cases, if teams even qualify for the playoffs.

In Class 6A, the Region 1 teams return to action, with Lowndes travelling to Richmond Hill, Colquitt County hosting Camden County, and Valdosta hosting Tift County. At the end of Friday night, things will get a little clearer, although they won’t be finalized as far as who wins the region. That’s because Valdosta and Lowndes still have to face each other with a possible region title at stake.

There’s a lot left to be decided.

In Region 2-6A, it is looking as if Douglas County at Carrollton in the regular season finale will decide that region’s top seed and champion heading into the playoffs. Carrollton is 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the region, while Douglas County has an upcoming game against Chapel Hill this week. If the Tigers win that game, it’ll be the Trojans and Tigers for the top seed in 2-6A. The winner could also take a big step toward competing for a run at the Class 6A state title.

Perhaps the biggest game of the week will be a battle for the Region 2-5A championship and No. 1 seed as Thomas County Central hosts Houston County in a battle of unbeaten teams.

Houston County is the No. 10 team, and Thomas County Central is No. 3 in our ITG Next Georgia high school football all-classifications top 25 rankings. Houston County is coming off a hard-fought win against Coffee, while Thomas County Central defeated Northside (Warner Robins).

This will be a big one and could put the winner as one of the front-runners in the race for the Class 5A state title.

Here are the rest of the 2025 Georgia high school football all-classification top 25 rankings:

Grayson and Buford remain at the top of our rankings as we bring you the second week of our top 25 Georgia high school football teams across all classifications.

There is no question that these two teams are the best teams in the state and would represent the ultimate dream matchup for fans of Georgia high school football.

It’s possible that could happen if both Buford and Grayson win their respective regions. The Wolves and Rams would enter the Class 6A state playoffs as a No. 1 seed, and if they advance through their bracket groups, the two teams would meet for the Class 6A state championship.

There are a lot of good teams to navigate through before that happens, though.

The biggest surprise of last week was Milton losing to Gainesville at home 28-16. The win by the visiting Red Elephants snapped the Eagles’ 42-game region winning streak and puts Gainesville head coach Josh Niblett’s club in the top spot in Region 7-5A with a 7-1 overall record and 4-0 region mark.

Milton falls to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in region play.

The win represents one of Niblett’s biggest wins since he led Gainesville to the state championship game in his first season as the head coach in 2022. It also puts Gainesville back in the mix for a possible run at that elusive state championship that Niblett was hired to bring to the Red Elephants.

Remember that Milton has battled this season with three different quarterbacks running the offense, and before Friday night things had been running pretty well for head coach Ben Reaves’ Eagles.

Don’t count out Milton just yet. They know what it takes to battle through a season when the bullseye is quite large on the back of their jerseys.

With the win, Gainesville leaps from their previous spot at No. 14 into the top 10 at No. 8.

Milton falls out of the top 10 to No. 14.

Moving up into that No. 3 spot is Thomas County Central, who is yet to be truly tested. That is yet to come as the Yellow Jackets will enter a bit of a tougher phase in region play with Houston County and Coffee rounding out the final two regular season and region games of the year.

Despite the easy schedule to date, I think TCC will be a team to watch out for as they enter the Class 5A 2025 state playoffs.

The defending Class 3A state champion North Oconee Titans move up one spot to No. 4, and moving into the top 5 are the Carver (Columbus) Tigers, who survived an upset attempt by Sumter County and won 8-7.

It was Carver’s biggest challenge by far of the season, and maybe the past two seasons, yet give them credit; they did what they had to do to win the game over a very good Sumter County team.

Elsewhere in this week’s updated rankings, there’s little change of note, with a couple of exceptions.

Thomasville, who was our No. 22 team in last week’s rankings, was upset by unranked Fitzgerald 24-21. The loss was Thomasville’s second straight defeat, which drops head coach Jonathan DeLay’s team out of the rankings.

Moving into the rankings for the first time are the Jefferson Dragons, who were the Class 3A state runner-up team last season. They debut at No. 22 this week.

Updated 10/4/2025

Starting this week, ITG Next will provide a weekly ranking of the top 25 Georgia high school football teams across all classifications for the remainder of the 2025 season.

The Grayson Rams are the overall No. 1 team in the top 25 Georgia high school football rankings across all classifications. They have proven that they belong at the top by continuing to play at a high level following the untimely loss of starting quarterback Travis Burgess earlier this season. Despite the injury to the four-star standout dual-threat quarterback in the second week of the season, Grayson withstood challenges from defending North Carolina state champion Rabun Gap-Nacoochee and Alabama state champion Thompson, winning both games with junior backup Deuce Smith at quarterback and one of the best defensive units in the state, led by linebacker Tyler Atkinson.

The Buford Wolves are a close second, and football fans can only hope to see these two teams meet up in the Class 6A state playoffs.

The next two teams are another potential dream matchup in Class 5A.

The defending state champion Milton Eagles have also been winning without their starting quarterback, Derek Baker, who was injured in Week 1. In his absence, the Eagles’ offense has operated with Ben Halevi and Trey Hasan at quarterback.

Through it all, Milton head coach Ben Reaves’ group has continued to win through adversity and fittingly deserve their No. 3 spot in the top 25.

Thomas County Central has remained undefeated with a fairly light schedule so far, but the Yellow Jackets will be a strong contender for the Class 5A state championship. Another potential dream matchup for fans would pit the Yellow Jackets from South Georgia against the Eagles of Milton.

Rounding out the top five is North Oconee. The Titans are currently on a 22-game winning streak dating back to and including last year’s perfect 15-0 season, which ended with the school’s first-ever state championship in football.

The Titans aren’t showing any signs of slowing down in 2025, having allowed no more than seven points in a single game through their first seven victories. They have three shutouts so far and have allowed just 6 points in each of their last three contests.

Carver (Columbus) is another team that has picked up where it left off last year. The defending Class 2A state champions are 7-0 and have done it with very little resistance so far.

Rounding out the top 10 teams in our 2025 Georgia high school football rankings are Carrollton, Hughes, Worth County, and Houston County.

Carrollton is undefeated through the first seven games of the season and is looking very strong. Trojans fans are hoping 2025 will be the year that Carrollton head coach Joey King brings home the program’s first-ever state championship.

Despite losing several starters from last year, as well as head coach Daniel Boone Williams, the Panthers are undefeated and are off to their best start since 2022, when they went 15-0 and won the Class 6A state title over Gainesville. They advanced to the state championship game last year but came up short against Milton.

Worth County is undefeated and is off to one of the best starts in years under head coach Jeff Hammond. The Rams are fresh off a remarkable come-from-behind win over rival Thomasville in a game they trailed by three touchdowns in the second half. The Rams are looking every bit the favorite so far in Class 1A-Division I.

Houston County is yet another school enjoying its best start in the history of the program. Head coach Jeremy Edwards’ team is 7-0 and may be considered one of the more pleasant surprises in the state so far.

Houston County graduated four-year starter AJ Hill following the 2024 season, and there was a bit of uncertainty as to who would be taking over for the Memphis-bound quarterback.

Edwards found his answer in sophomore Ryan Maxwell. With virtually no varsity experience entering this season, the 10th-grader has looked like a seasoned veteran running the fast-paced offense that Edwards and Houston County are known for. Maxwell has performed splendidly so far, and Houston County will be one of the teams in Class 5A to challenge Milton and region foe Thomas County Central before it’s over.

Here are the rest of the 2025 Georgia high school football all-classification top 25 rankings:

  1. Grayson (6A)
  2. Buford (6A)
  3. Milton (5A)
  4. Thomas County Central (5A)
  5. North Oconee (4A)
  6. Carver (Columbus) (2A)

  9. Worth County (1A-DI)
  10. Houston County (5A)
  11. Creekside (4A)
  12. North Gwinnett (6A)
  13. Lowndes (6A)
  14. Gainesville (5A)
  15. McEachern (6A)
  16. Peach County (3A)
  17. Roswell (5A)
