2025 Georgia High School Football Game Predictions: Week 2

Phil Jones gives his score predictions for the top six games being played in Week 2 of the 2025 Georgia high school football season.

Grayson vs. Rabun Gap-Nacoochee

A battle of two defending state champions is highlighted in our Pick 6 this week.

The Grayson Rams proved just how good they really are after blowing out a talented Collins Hill team at The Hill last week.

Grayson now takes that momentum into its home-opener against the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles, who actually play in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association. The Eagles are a powerhouse themselves, having won the NCISAA Division I state championship last year, so this will be a test for the defending GHSA Class 6A state champs.

Phil’s Pick: Grayson 41, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee 24

Benedictine vs. Buford

The Benedictine Cadets have as tough of a non-region schedule as any other team in the state. After starting off with a loss to Colquitt County in Week 1, they open their home schedule against the Buford Wolves, who are coming off their home-opening thriller last week, a 30-24 win over Milton.

Despite falling to the Packers at Colquitt County, Benedictine is loaded with talent, including quarterback Stephen Cannon, running back Stanley Smart, and wide receiver Bubba Frazier.

Can Benedictine avoid an 0-2 start by defeating favored Buford?

Phil’s Pick: Buford 27, Benedictine 21

McEachern vs. North Cobb

Both teams enjoyed a victory in their season-openers last week. The North Cobb Warriors got past a tough Archer team, and the McEachern Indians showed their exciting brand of football with a win over Walton in the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic.

North Cobb’s offense will be led by quarterback and Notre Dame commit Teddy Jarrard, and McEachern will have quarterback Calvin “CJ” Pittman Jr. guiding its offense. Pittman threw for 227 yards and two TDs to lead McEachern to the win over Walton.

North Cobb running back Zachary Belyeu rushed for 101 yards and scored three TDs to lead the Warriors to the 28-14 win over Archer.

Phil’s Pick: McEachern 31, North Cobb 28

Mill Creek vs. Norcross

The Norcross Blue Devils are 1-0 after escaping the Lanier Longhorns last week in the season-opener for both teams. Norcross won 16-12.

Norcorss opened the season without Keith Maloof as its head coach for the first time in 26 seasons. Maloof resigned his position after the end of last season. Former Norcross assistant coach Corey Richardson took over for Maloof as the new head coach.

Mill Creek also dodged a herd of Longhorns last week as they defeated Lambert 30-16.

Phil’s Pick: Mill Creek 31, Norcross 14

Gainesville vs. Moody (AL)

The Gainesville Red Elephants will play their second straight home game against the Blue Devils. Last week it was against the Marietta Blue Devils, a game Gainesville won 26-7. This week they welcome the Moody Blue Devils, an Alabama power house program, to Bobby Gruhn Field at City Park Stadium.

Moody played for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A state title last season, finishing 11-3 overall. This game is Moody’s season-opener.

Phil’s Pick: Gainesville 35, Moody 20

Pierce County vs. Coosa Christian (AL)

Rush Propst makes his return to Georgia for the first time in five years as he brings his Coosa Christian Crusaders from Gadsden, Alabama, to Blackshear, Georgia, since being named interim head coach for the 2025 season. Propst last coached in Georgia in 2020, when he served as the Valdosta head football coach for one season.

Coosa Christian will be led by quarterback Mac Long and four-star defensive back Kylen Johnson, both sophomores.

Pierce County head coach Ryan Herring led the Bears to an 11-2 record last year, including a 41-7 win over Coosa Christian in the opening game of the 2024 season.

Phil’s Pick: Pierce County 28, Coosa Christian 21
